Few 91 Vette ?s

My bro is looking at a 91 Corvette 6sp and I have a few questions. He wants me to come out and look at it this weekend and I was wondering a couple of things. It has the TPI right? What was the hp and tq ratings on it? Are there some known problem areas? Same rear end as the Camaro? Does the 6 speed have CAGS? He also wants to get the exhaust done and was wondering which exhaust to look for. Is the Flowmaster good or is there something better? Nothing too loud but a nice tone is perfect. I like to think I know much about cars but Im still learning. Any help would be awesome.

Last question, will it be able to beat my car????

Hp/Tq is most likely 245/345.

Different read end (IRS leaf spring vs solid)

He'll beat you if you're a sucky driver. :P

Wow I thought that they had more power than that. I have been telling him to get an LT1 but that is when they take a big price jump. This one is only $15,900 with 120-150 km (I think). Thanks guys. Anyone else.

Yes, I believe the 6sp was actually available in 89 for the Vettes. The 91's are kind of a bastard year. First year for the newer style dash/interior but it still has the L98. The 6sp cars came equiped with the Dana 44, and the auto's came with the Dana 36 unless they've been swapped.

either borla or corsa....your choice...you will have to spend over 1000 to get a good catback for a vette

My car's a bastard.........

Ah well.......could be worse.........could be a fishface LS1.....

LOL, the only reason I used that term was because there were other things they changed that were "91" specific. I only know this because my friend has a 91 and he was pissed to find out about the year specific parts. Can't remember what they were off the top of my head, but it was kind of rediculous of GM to do it. Makes ordering parts more difficult etc...

My car's a bastard too lol... Although I'm happy to have the LT1 with the LS1 interior with "non fishnose" as you put it.

OK sorry to resurrect this thread but I have another question.
Did they make a ZR1 in 91?????
My bro is thinkin this is a ZR1 because it has a sticker on the back and he has seen a couple for sale. I am not sure because I thought that ZR1 was only made in 96 with the LT5, but I am probably wrong. Was ZR1 just a susp upgrade untill it recieved the more powerful engine.
It's just he is getting close to purchasing it and I dont want him to get suckered for no reason. Please let me know. Thanks guys!!!

The ZR1 was available from 1990-1995. If the car is actually a ZR1, it would obviously have the LT5 engine (375-405 horses, depending on year), 11-inch wide rear wheels, wider rear bodywork, and square taillights. A good book to have, if you are Corvette-shopping, is "The Corvette Black Book" by Michael Antonick. It decodes all the various GM option codes, letting you know what a car's original equipment was/is, and gives lots of other info, such as production numbers etc.

Thanks guys I really appreciate it. The car is only $15,5-16,000 i cant quite remember. It does have 160-180km on it though. F this, if it is a real ZR1 I have to save up more money for mods
