Question #2 for LT1 experts

Here is something I have been wondering about for a while...

Do ignition boxes (eg: MSD 6AL) kill LT1 opties? The reason I ask is that I know the high voltage going through the opti is one of the reasons they wear-out quickly, but if you increase the voltage by way of an ignition box, wouldn't this just speed up the wearing process?

thanks

Andy

What you want to hear is Yes & No, the box ussually increases the number of sparks per spark event, & the coil increases the voltage, by getting an aftermarket coil you kill & opti sooner & by getting an ignition box you also kill the opti sooner, both do a good job at it, the high voltage is the primary reason for opti failures ofcoarse.

Which is much the reason why I have the box and no coil.

The stock coil really quite good on our cars.
