Engine Building Tools

I'm going to be assembling a 383 Shortblock and wanted to buy a decent Dial Caliper with magnetic stand and some extensions. My machine shop is going to check tolerances on the block before I put it together but I'll be doing the final assembly. Any recommendations as to either a brand name or a source for these type of measuring tools. I'd also be interested in any other tools that I might need. Of course I already have the basics, hand tools, torque wrench, engine stand etc.

Thanks.

Try Powerhouse Products:

http://www.powerhouseproducts.com/store/

They carry what you are looking for. They are owned by Comp Cams and I have had good luck with their service and products.

I have purchased several tools from Powerhouse also. They offer a good variety and the prices are reasonable.

The prices at that site are not great but not the worst i have seen either. Ebay is a good source for what you looking for also check your local pawn shops . I have picked up some great Mititoyo stuff @ both places . Although you dont really need stuff of that Quality but watch out for really cheap import stuff some china stuff is OK, japan is good, the rest is junk. Hope this helps! Steven
