If I drained the coolant from the valve on the bottom of the radiator, am I ok to start removing the radiator hoses and everything and then take the water pump off?

How much coolant will drip out of the system?

Make sure you have a bucket ready when you take out the bolts from the water pump. At least two of them will "fountain" water when removed.

yup, if you want to be really thorough you can remove the block plug from the engine by the knock sensor as well - I did it without though it and it was fine. DO have a pail underneath though, as mentioned above.

Depends how thorough you want to be. Drain plugs on both sides of the block and you can completely drain the block as well. The passenger side it's the knock sensor, the drivers side is a drain plug right near the motor mount.
