keyless entry doesn't work when car is running

My keyless entry doesn't work at all when my car is running, not even from inside the car, but turn the car off and it works fine. Can anyone explain this?

It's a safety feature to keep your doors from opening up accidentally while your riding down the highway.

Don't know if this changed over the years or not, but if the car is running, and in "P" mine will work (use this a lot for the hatchback). If it is in "D" it will not.

However, if your already in the car and it's running, why are you then worried about the keyless "entry" (ha,ha)?

Sorry, couldn't resist.

Yea for an M6 the parking brake has to be engaged. On a A4 the car must be in Park. I have an M6 and mine works fine in the car while on or off. I, like others, use it for the hatch all the time. Much easier than reaching wayyyyy over to the glove box and opening it and then pushing it. I'm much too lazy....

P.S. What year?

Thanks for the replies, sorry I'm late on this one, it's a 95 Z28. So when I go to the ATM I leave my car running, just locked, I come back out and try to use the keyless entry, and it doesn't work. But it is in P, but the emergency brake isn't on. I'll try again to double check, but I'm pretty sure it's in P and still doesn't work.

Edit: It's Auto BTW.
