I thought I read on here before that there is a GM part number for the SLP cold air intake, but I did a search and I can't find it. I want to order from the GM dealer. If this is true does anyone know the number. I would need the kit for a 1994 Z28. Thank you in advance for any help.

 

I don't think that GM actually has the SLP cold air induction kit but have one that is similar in shape and style to it.

Kinda pricey.

 

I had the gmpp cold air on my other z and loved it. I liked the stainless look way more than the black powder coating. I tried to buy the gmpp kit for my new one and 2 dealers said it was discontinued. I just gave up and bought the slp one and now i am going to strip the paint off and polish it up.

That sux its discontinued. The reason I wanted the GM part number is because a friend of mine works for a GM dealer and he gets a discount on parts.

 

well maybe the parts guys I asked were ******. Have your friend run that part number and see what he comes up with. I didn't have a part number so maybe they just gave up on me. Anyways let me know what you find out.

Exactly what I am doing. Well, basically. I am gonna send mine off to Jet-Hot after I strip the paint to get it ceramic coated inside and out.

 

Why not just polish it up if its stainless steel?

 

Who knows? Maybe their coating could pick up a few hp. You never know. Nobody has done it, so it's be a cool experiment. I just wanna see if it would make the air any more cooler.

I think that's the funniest thing I've ever read on this board. Just polish it and put it on. You're not going to gain anything by having it ceramic coated. Waste of money.

What does the SLP version cost these days? Less than $200 I'd bet.

 

I'm not doing it for some major power gain. I don't expect to see a 10 hp gain or anything. First off, I am mainly doing it for appearance. I'm doing a lot of chrome dress up under the hood and this is another thing I am looking in to. After I switch to longtube's next year, I will have the same ceramic coating on my headers and I want most of the stuff to match. Their coating looks really nice. But hey, why not give it a shot. I just can't stand being talked to like I am a newbie who doesn't know anything. I never said I expected a big gain or anything.
