Header suggestions for my set up-lt4 conv????

hello all.

I'm generaly doing the Lt1-Lt4 conversion. Along with all the periferal parts associated with the conversion new headers will be going onto the engine with the heads. SLP shorties are the prime choice right now for me. I will be wanting to pass emitions.

1. What place has the best price for SLP shortys?
2. Is my header choice/prefference flawed? anyone with a better suggestion?

thanks in advance, hopefully.

Skip the shorties and go for some longtubes, Hooker Super Comps are the best. With shorties you will see about 10-15RWHP, with Hooker LT's you could see up to 25RWHP. Longtubes also give your exhaust a nicer sound. If you need a place to check them out go to ls1speed.com Good Luck!!

94-95 style SLP shorties are very nice. You won't be giving up too much compared to long-tubes, plus you will stay emissions-legal. Everyone also speaks highly of MAC headers. Those are emissions legal too. But if I had a choice, I would go with the SLPs because they are stainless-steel and will last a longer time. Good luck.

Edit: Just found out that the MACs aren't emissions legal since they lack a CARB O.E number...... I learn something new everyday on this board

ok thanks for the info. But i have a question about that-what do i need to convert my exhaust to handle the 94-95 style shorties (like for single cat)? do i do nothing, or should i simply ask the person i talk to when i order them from SLP over the phone?

Keep an eye on the GP forum, discounted prices on SLP are offered by supporting vendors fairly often.

or all i have to do to convert to have the 94-95 slp shorties is to just move the driver's side cat back down the line; more twards the passenger's side??

The 94-95 style ones come with an off-road pipe that will bolt right up to the catback exhaust. Just make sure you place a catalytic converter somewhere in that y-pipe and you should be able to pass emissions ( Someone correct me if I am wrong since I live in FL and we have no emission tests here ).
