Lift car..
Support motor
unbolt motor mounts, steering rack, lower control arms, and brake line hold downs
unbolt 6 mounting bolts to chassis points.

remove and replace.

I think thats all I can remember off the top of my head. Its not a bad job to do, takes a couple hours. I don't beleive this is going to be any different from any of the others. As was stated this is only the prototype so nothing is set completely in stone but it will be out in the near future.

I remember talking to Lou a while back on this and I mentioned to him that strength was my first concern, weight second. It definatly looks stronger!

One reason I have not purchased a tubular K yet for my car is that I am not convinced that the BMR or the PA is actually stronger (or as strong) as the stock counterpart.

Lou, if you see this thread would you let me know on the strength issue.

Need a test car for it?
I am very encouraged to see this!
Thanks, Jason

Strenth is the main issue, I think the box tubing will take care of that, also it looks as though more tubing is being used.

LG's k-member seems to be about 10lbs heavier, but its still 17lbs lighter than stock. Worth my $450 or so, plus the access to components is much much better than the stock k-member. At least from the looks of it.

This K member uses the same design and layout as what was used in the TransAm cars, so strength is not an issue. It was purposely built for road race/autoX/street cars because of weakness issues with the other brands so don't think this is a show only piece it is and was designed and built to be a performer.

Yes it is much lighter than stock, and it might end up being even a few more pounds lighter than what it is right now due to the fact that this is a pre production piece.

As was stated above, there is no set date on production, nor is there a set price for said piece, that will come once Lou gets all of that sorted out.

I don't want to say either way about the other members...but I will say this is far ahead of the others when it comes to strength and being purposely built for road course work

Thumbs up

Been waiting a long time for this to come into effect. Worth every penny too. LG is tried and true w/ all their components hence the cost.

Can't wait until it goes into production for the masses. Great job Lou. Better late than never.

Wonder if it will work with AS&M headers? BMR doesn't.

It has not been on a car with every combo in it just as of yet. How ever, if it will work with the stock K member there is no reason that this shouldn't work with them. As was stated this is still the prototype. Once it gets a little further down the line maybe Lou will come in here and do a full statement for the launch of it. There had been a lot of talk going on over at LS1.com.....just thought I would share the news and get ya all excited about it

Whatta mean it doesn't look pretty? Its the prototype, not the polished finished coated version....but it looks pretty sweet to me.

I'm sure this k-member will be plenty strong. Just compare it quickly to the drag racing ones out there and it's obvious.

Granted, it's not pretty yet, but it's just meant to be the model for the jig that will make the production pieces.

Someone mentioned this k-member being good value at $450 or so. Don't count on it being that cheap. Hopefully that's close, but put some extra money back for it just in case.

Looks pretty good. My only concern is that it looks like it will hang down lower than the stock K-member. Notice the mounts for the steering rack and how much "higher" they look vs. the stock piece.

It may, or may not be an issue but I thought it was worth mentioning.

It also looks like adjustable lower A-arms will be nessecary as there are no slots like the stocker for adjustment of camber/caster (unless they haven't been added yet).

Just found this old thread. Is there any news on this unit? Also, exactly what kind of improvements can you expect?

I mean I know the idea is to reduce flex, thus improving cornering ability. What about feel? I have never driven any car with anything like this and just wonder if it's worth it for my application.

Thanks
Mark

I wouldn't worry about it Mark. Noone's heard anything from Lou on this in months and he's campaigning a SCCA WC car now, so I think his mind is on other things.
