Will control arm relocation brackets hurt handling?

My contol arms in the rear are not level when the suspension is loaded. The rear of the control arm(closest to the axle) sits higher than the front of the control arm. Relocation brackets are supposed to fix this, but what happens when you go too far? Do you want the control arm level when loaded, or have the rear of the control arm lower than the front?

I know this all effects how the car launches, but does it do anything to handling as well? This is assuming stock control arms, but changing the rear height of the control arm.

Thanks,
Dan

I prefer the arms being front down.... It give you some roll-understeer. I think that's important since a 4th gen with a good alignment and such makes the front work better than it does stock. Since it's a solid rear axle, you can't really do much to increase it's grip (some small things). So, the roll understeer makes the car much more stable in corners @ speed.

MHO.

Thanks Sam. Guess I'll leave it. I don't need a good launch all that often compared to good handling, which I need all the time.

By the way. My ST 35mm got here today. Dang, this is a HUGE bar! I can see why it reduces roll so much. I weighed it at 27 lbs. Do you know what the stock '97 bar weighs? Can't wait to get it on the car. I'll test it out once before I put the car back in for storage over the winter.(after it gets back from the body shop for my little boo boo)

A stock front sway bar should weigh 9-10 lbs.

I'm with Sam on this one . The front end can indeed grip much better than stock and if the rear gets anywhere near roll oversteer (which will occur if the rear of the control arm is lower than the front ) the car will become VERY prone to oversteer. I put the brackets on but would be just as happy to take them off as I never use them now.
