umm why wont my shifter ball/knob come off?

umm why wont my shifter ball/**** come off?

i have the stock shifter and the stock ball on there and i keep turning the ball but it wont come off. How in the world do i get this thing off. im tryin to put in a new shifter Thanks Cory

are you saying that it is turinng but it wont come off or you haven't broke it loose because i had to use a strap wrench to break it loose

it is threaded on

pull up while turning it, it'll come loose. if you just spin it it wont do anything, you gotta yank up and spin.

Pull up, squeeze hard and turn... The cover on the ball turns a lot easier than the actual ball itself.

That's it, the cover is spinning on the ball.
