Smog Exempt LT1

If you no longer have to worry about smog for an LT1, what's the best way to go as far as removing all the smog stuff. Which wiring harness do most people run, which LT1 edit programs do they use and so on? I've seen a lot of older cars with really clean looking stripped down LT1s in them. Is there a good resource online for doing that sort of thing?

What made it smog exempt? The 10yr mark or something?

My guess is that it's going into an older car. Cars over 30 years old (I think) are exempt. So, you could slap that LT1 into an older car and junk all the smog crap. I've seen more than a few, and they look sweet. My favorite was a Thunderbird (don't know what year, but it was still a two-seater) with an LT1. The plate on it said "LT1 TBRD" or something like that.
