Very disapointed with new times

These are my mods CIA, edelbrock headers, cutout, 52mmTB, 3.73's, Hotcam kit, MSD ignition and PCMforless tune (before the hotcam).

Now before I put the hotcam kit in, I was running a 13.9@101 with a 2.0 60'. Now I went to the track today, with the hotcam kit put in, and the best I could churn out was a 13.5@103.

Do those numbers seem a bit low to you guys, with my mods? That hotcam kit is a complete joke if thats all it did, How much would I benifit from a pcmforless tune for the hotcam? I mean I was expecting to at least break into the 12's tonight. Any input would be great guys, thanks.

Dunno what to tell ya my man. Is it running good? Tuned in? Seems a lil slow but no too bad. You should probably be doing like low 13's, I wouldn't expect much more with just those mods. My cars best times dtock with only Cold Air was 14.1 and I was told that was good. Onlce you get into the 13's its like $2,000 bucks for every second.

Good luck......S.J.S.

.4 with the Hotcam kit alone isn't bad at all in my book. Hell, if I can do that once mine's in I should be running somewhere close to 13-flat.

I don't have headers or gears yet, but do have just about every simple bolt-on you can find.

Before my stock clutch started giving out, I was able to pull consistent 13.50's. My car is now on jackstands getting the clutch replaced. I hope to be able to pull a better 60' than 2.03; if that's the case then maybe I can pull a 13.30 or so.

Just for comparison, when I'm running 13.5's, I'm always in the 102-103 mph range.

Gotta think about where you're racing at too: altitude, humidity, and temps can make a big difference. I'm moving to Albuquerque NM soon, and from what I hear the altitude is 5,500 there, unlike the near sea-level where I live now so I will probably be going backwards in E.T.'s and it will probably take at least that Hotcam kit to get me BACK to a 13.5 again.

Good Luck and keep practicing!

60' was a 2.0, and I still wasnt getting very good traction, I dunno if the track prep wasnt any good or what. The weather was good, at about 85 degrees, and the humity was maybe like 15%.

There were a couple 4th gens there none of which were running very well, a 99 TA running a 14 flat, and a 99 Z28, quite modded and spraying running a 13.1. How much do you think a tune will help out? If any?

What's the altitude there? That's the only thing I can think of if all those cars are off like that.

I think they said the track is about 640 feet above sea level. is that really enough to make a difference?

I think that you will gain quite a bit from a PCMforless tune, if you have stock tunning now that is probably the reason that you are not running too good... and the 60ft could be a bit better,

I ran 13.53 at 103 with a 2.09 94 Z28 mods are in the sig.

you should be quite a bit faster than what you are running.

yes a good tune will help out your numbers. They could be better. Also check out ollie's post about his hotcam times. His mph was like 114 to your 103.

Your trap speeds are way down. I was trapping faster than you when I had just bolt ons. Now I trap at 108 with hotcam kit. The 60 ft time is pretty good actually. All I could pull was a 1.98 with et streets. I am in the process of getting a stall, and thats what you should do if you really want to wake your car up. I say tuning and a stall and you'll be running 12's all day long.

Thats why im so disapointed in my times, I wasnt expecting to cut very good 60' times, but my trap speeds were so low. Alot of you guys are hittin 103 with just simple bolt ons. 2mph from a new cam and roller rockers just doesnt seem right. Besides the really low trap speeds, the car seems to run really strong.

Oh great! that makes me feel even better! j/k

There has got to be something wrong with my car, cause even with a crappy launch I should be trapping much higher than that right?

I really think that you would do good to have the PCM programmed for that cam. I didn't see if you have a good set of heads on it or not... if you don't, that would be my next step.

Good Luck!
