Red Coolant Light!
Red Coolant Light!
hey everyone does the little red coolant light in the guages mean just low coolant? it came on yesterday and i turned off my car turned it back on and it was fine and for the rest of the day. i just came back to work and it just came back on when i was parking my car. i checked the coolant and it seemed ok but i also checked it when the car was still a little warm/hot. im going to add some becaus eit was a little low but it seemed ok. and it only came on when the car got hot like when you idle a lot, 200+ degrees or so and it came on both the times it did. it hasnt come on since i bought it and im jus hoping nothings the matter with my cooling system! what should i do guys is it bad or should i just add some coolant. i have factory thermostat and everything pretty much stock i just have a catback.
ok you have kind of confused me. yours has been on for 8 months, is your coolant low or fine? did you check your coolant level when it came on? so yours is always on for the past 8 months and your saying your sensors bad? if it is where is the sensor at and what would have to be done to replace/fix it?
This and the window motors has got to be the two most talked about problems with these cars. It's usually just the sensor. Mine has been on and off since I got the car over a year ago. Just check the fluid and keep an eye on the temps. and level. You should be doing this anyway.
They call them idiot lights for a reason.

i did me a good search and i found out that it is probably the low collant sensor so ima go buy one hopefully asap and put it in to fix it or tryto clean it im jus hoping nothings wrong with my car/cooling system! thanks!
what??? dude your sensor is working fine! THATS WHY ITS ON
you dont need a new one! see what happens is when the car is cold and has been sitting over night the cooling system bleeds off ALL the pressure so if you have reciently done anything to the cooling system, (like flush and refill etc) then in the morning it will have bleed off more air and now made room for more coolant! BUT lets say you get in your car in the morning and you start it up and your low coolant light is on and you drive around like that and the car warms up and then you stop turn the car off go in the store come out and start the car and vloia NO COOLANT LIGHT! ok this doesnt mean it fixed itself, the car didnt magically refill itself with coolant
this means that since you have been driving around the cooling system has built pressure and now that BIG space that you would have filled with coolant in the morning has now been taken up by AIR!!
so what you should do is wait till your car cools down and then pop that radiator cap off and fill that bish with coolant

InjectedSS......that sensor (when bad) will make the low water level indicator light come on. I ended up just unplugging mine. I'll never see that light again. They did away with the low coolant sensor on the 2000 up camaros. Just unplug it and keep an eye on your fluids.
