Help with AC!

Hey guys,

I've been trying to figure out my a/c problem, it's 113 degrees in AZ, and I'm in serious need of diagnosing my a/c problem. I'm pretty sure it has to do with my compressor or at least my clutch because when I turn the A/C on, the clutch doesn't engage. I tried checking the relay under the hood, and i swapped a working relay to see if the A/C relay was working, and the clutch still didn't engage.

I pressure tested my low side, and it's way up there in the 120's, ridiculously high numbers. I've bought a compressor, and I'm about to put it in.

I was hoping that you guys could give me 1) pointers as to if I'm going in the right direction 2) if there are any other tests I should run to see if it's solely my a/c compressor or my clutch or some other problem, and/or 3) the easiest way to remove the A/C compressor and install the new one. And tips such as oils to use, gaskets to replace, etc, etc...

Thanxz for you help.

Cesar

I had the exact same problem.

I also had extremely high pressure on the low side, but when I got the dealer to evacuate the system there was no refrigerant???

He recharged the sytem and the clutch engaged.

he told me the ac clutch will also not engage if there is not enough refrigerant in the system.

Hope this helps more than it confuses you.
