Thumbs up NO more Traction control for me!!!!

went and bought a accelerator cable (without TCS) and took out that ugly, worthless TCS. it looks SOOOOO much cleaner under the hood now. only problem is the ABS INOP light is on, but i can live with that!!!

just make sure that you scan it every now and then to make sure its not throwing any other codes. I think tuning can remove it if you want to get it tuned.

I really want to do the same and ditch the TCS/ASR. I would prefer to keep ABS so its staying on for now. No one wants to explain what needs to be done to retain ABS after asking so many times though. If anyone wants to chime in on the details, please do. Until then, its ASR for me. Good stuff on the !ASR delete man.

i know i could have programed it out with LT1 edit that i use already, BUT i just didnt like the way that it looked under the hood. i want fuel rail covers and vavle covers and the TCS would have taken away from the look of both of them (as it sits on the drivers' side valve cover)

I have seen something from thunder racing that makes the default ASR to off. I know that might not help your valve cover dress up issue though.

Have you tried turning off the traction control in the PCM after you removed the box? That should get rid of the ABS light if I'm not mistaken.

Do you have a part number and price on that accelerator cable (without TCS)? I don't have traction control any more so that cable sounds just right. You still have cruise control?

If you want cruise control you'll have to get a non ASR car's setup... I plan on removing my ASR and ABS system as soon as I can do my manual swap... will be switching cruise control over to the standard non ASR style. Maybe some fab'd valve covers while I'm at it And a cam, headers, heads, stroker, supercharger, no turbo! Nitrous, 9", gears, clutch, seating, wheels, tires...

j/k.

Well you could always do this little mod to get rid of the light. http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/fbody/abslight.htm
I had to do it when i got a gear change and it didn't have the reluctor gear on it(i got a whole center section).

Is that what happens when you turn traction control off with LT1 Edit? I turned mine off, but it still works on my car. I too have been thinking about removing it.

What all parts are needed to do this mod? Can someone list part numbers of the cables needed to convert to non-ASR?

Is there just a cable needed to retain cruise control?

Thanks!
Reid
