Taylor OVC setup can really test a persons patience.

I don't think I'll ever have a problem with water getting in those boots...getting those things to slide on is nearly impossible.

I used every lubricant known to man and I still had one hell of a time. WD-40, Dielectric grease, and silcone based lubes.

I eventually had to slide a set of needle nose pliers in the opti boot and gap it open. I had my girlfriend hold it open (its pretty cool that she helped me out don't ya think) while I slide the wire as far in as possible and then pulled it through.

Those boots are just stupid tight.

Ok, I'm done venting now.
Thanks for listening.

Weird, I didnt have a problem... my boots just slid on. I used "Snap" silicon spray, they went on with little or no effort, you need to slide them on a few inches past the wire so you can crimp them.

I'll have to see if I can find that spray.
I still have 4 wires to do tonight.

That way I'll be able to tell everyone the benefits of the spray.

I used a drill and made them slightly bigger. They'd fit on and off my accel 8.8 wires.

Just put these on a couple months ago. The best way was to run the boot under hot water to really soften it up. Then a little spray and no problems.

I still wonder if I had bigger booters or something because it was so easy for me. Maybe I just had a really good silicon spray. Try going to damens hardware and get it. I thought that the brand looked cheap but it worked very well.

With electric grease i had no problem, but with all others it was impossible. They really do suck to put on.

there is a trick to doing it...

crimp the connectors on the wires FIRST, then spray the wire down with wd-40. Slide the boot on by twisting the wire up into the boot. Its pretty easy this way.

PS: I never had to twist mine or anything. They just slid on fine with the silicon grease... It would be impossible without that grease though

Serves me right for not listening the first time.....

I got the Silicone Spray and everything went awesome.
Now I'm just crossing my fingers and making sure that none of the wires burn through.

Silicone Spray is the only way to go.
Thanks all for you input.

I had no problem with them. I put the dielectic grease that came with the wires on teh wire itself, and I sprayed the inside of the boots with NAPA Silicone Spray. Slid on like butter! THEN I crimped the terminal on and slid the boot back up to almost cover the terminal. No problems what-so-ever. I think total time to do the wires was about 2 hours split over two days.

Cool

Not even worth trying without silicone spray. With it piece of cake without it PITA.
