a suggestion for moderators and something for other members to think about

I just finished checking out the dsmtuners.com and extrememotorsports.com websites and I was very impressed. The dsmtuners.com website was very similar to ours, but they have a section where it ask what gen eclipse you have and if it is turbo or n/a. It then ask what your performance goals are and gives you the steps and links to meet your goals. i.e. it has a 400hp stage or stage 2 as they call it that tells you the best way to go about obtaining that goal.

Its a little like are tech section but alot more informative and newby friendly for those who have a fbody and all they know is they want to make it go faster but dont know the most effective and efficient way to do it.

I would think alot of members would welcome such an addition to this site. What do you guys think.

A neat idea. I don't know if we could do it with all the other things we have going on, but it is a nice idea.

Where exactly is the section you are talking about? Is it the Tuning Guide?

Good idea, I don't think it would be too hard to separate the mods into stages, like BPU Supras or something... Though some things are different for LS1/LT1, like you don't usually buy RR for the LS1 but they're fairly common mod for LT1.

Maybe something like this for LT1?

Stage I (250-270 RWHP)
Catback Exhaust (or cutout)
Cold Air Intake

Stage II (270-300 RWHP)
Headers + Y-pipe
Roller Rockers (1.6 or higher)

Here you need to kinda choose a path, either you're gonna want a power adder later on or you'll want to stay NA.

Stage III (300-330 RWHP w/o Power Adder)
Mild Cam (Hotcam/CC305)
Lightly Ported & Polished Stock Heads
Tuning

Stage III (350-420 RWHP NA)
Big Cam (CC306/Xtreme 230/Solid Roller)
Ported & Polished (Stock or Aftermarket) Heads
AFR Hydra-Rev Kit?
Tuning

Stage IV (400-450 RWHP w/Power Adder)
Pick a power adder!!!
1. Nitrous
2. Supercharger
3. Turbocharger

Stage IV (420-500 RWHP NA)
Stroker Crank
Machine work to block (upgrade mains, increase compression, etc.)

It's kinda complicated for our cars because there's so many different ways to go to make the horsepower you want. With turbo cars it's fairly standard, increase intake/exhaust flow, increase boost, lather rinse repeat.

My numbers could be off also, I trying to remember actual combinations I'd seen before, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong

Excuse me?

The suggestion box is for peolpe to give us (the guys who run the site) suggestions and feedback. It doesn't need to involve a huge discussion or generate tons of replies.

You posted your suggestion and I replied. I am not sure what else you expected.

Since it was a suggestion for the benefit of the members of the site, it might be useful to know what the actual members thought about it. If 20 members reply and 12 say they dont think its necessary, it might be a indication as to what the majority of the other members think, thereby saving you guys the trouble of putting unecessary thought into an idea that most members could care less for even though it "seems" like a good Idea.

Or vice versa, if 20 members reply and 18 say they would love the feature, well there you go. But how are the members supposed to give their input on an idea that involves them when the idea is stuck in a room that few people ever visit.

And I already know its not getting put back in the lounge so save yourself the trouble of writing it. Im not trying to be troublesome so dont get the wrong ideea, im just stating my point of view.
