Revise the member statuses vs. post counts??

Just thinking of myself and the others who have been here a long time.

I'd like to see statuses for people over 1000, 2000 posts and maybe something extra special for people with over 4000 posts.

At this point anybody with over 100 is a Senior member.

I think 0-49 should be newbie
50-249 = junior member
250-999 = member
1000-1999 = senior member
2000-3999 = prominent member
4000+ = distinguished member

You can adjust the titles to whatever you would like but I think it would be neat to reward those of us who have been around for a while.

cASe SenSiTive 10-24-2002 02:09 PM

I just want mine to read "Huge Member". ;)

JasonD 10-24-2002 04:30 PM

A good idea (not yours, Tom. ;)). We have been thinking about something like that and since you brought it up, I just made some changes...

Chris 96 WS6 10-24-2002 08:46 PM

So I got demoted to just a member for making the suggestion? I figured 2200+ posts and 3 years would get me more than just "member", LOL :)

So what are the new various rankings and post counts to get there:

JasonD 10-25-2002 03:27 PM

We are still tweaking the levels. Don't worry about it until we finalize them. When we do, we'll post the levels.

BLK97Z28 10-26-2002 03:31 AM

thuper, this is a good idea.

LT1Thunder 10-26-2002 03:30 PM

I also think this is a great idea!! I was saying to myself,100 posts and your a senior member? At least now you got actually earn your status.;)

5 and a game misconduct 10-27-2002 07:25 PM

2000-3999 = prominent member
Me likey

"Enormous Member", please.

:D

How does "Advanced Member" fit into the following equation:
  • 0-49 = newbie
  • 50-249 = junior member
  • 250-999 = member
  • 1000-1999 = senior member
  • 2000-3999 = prominent member
  • 4000+ = distinguished member

JasonD (or anybody), in this post:
i was a senior member the other day what happened? (posted by chevyboy_z28) It was stated to look at this thread to see the new rankings/titles and what they mean. I got that part....I'm just not sure how the Advanced Member ranking comes in - Or are they titles still "under construction" ?

Thanks for trying to clear this up. :)
Milo.

[edit]: nevermind found this post:
New user levels - info inside!

Thanks!

Good Idea...I have been a member since May 2001, but didn't really start posting until about May of this year...I felt kind of guilty thinking my little title was the same as some of the "veterans" of the board...

But, What is the final counts?
Is it based on the scale that Chris came up with ot what?

JasonD 10-28-2002 02:59 PM

Okay, here it is:

These are the "finals" but are subject to change. :)

Thanks for the suggestion!

Thanks Jason! I think its a nice little "added touch" :)

Gotta go start posting now to get to advanced status, LOL.

Heres another one for you guys...my post count hasn't changed in quite some time...I've been stuck at 1315 forever and I know I should be well over 1450 by now.

Do you only post in the lounge? If so, the post count has been turned off there - ie. your posts won't count. Your post count will only go up if you post in different forums.

Hope this helps.
Milo.

Thanks Milo...I didn't know that...actually Jason emailed me back with the info as well. Anyone know why this is exactly?

I'm no admin, but I feel it was to help stop some of the mindless/post whoring that was going on. We would get new members that were here for 5 months and have 6k posts. I was just annoying. So, I think they turned it off to have people stop doing that, and explore other parts of the site.

...or I could be completly wrong. :)

Milo.

I'm sure the mods posted this info somewhere, but I was anti GM for a while and didn't visit the board often. Now I'm back with my usual visits 3 times a day just about. A few names come to mind when you mention the -Post Whore- type but that usually didn't stop some very useful info from being posted here. I agree with their decision though.

Just a suggestion but I think Prominent and Advanced should be switched around. Seeing as how Prominent is sounds much better than Advanced. :D ;)

Toms30th 11-08-2002 01:34 AM

I agree, advanced should be before prominent. I got a long way to go before I get there anyway though.
