Hole in top of head

Is that giant hole supposed to be there? Been troubled by a cracked head or blown head gasket, saw this big hole. Looked irregular to me. The upper right hole under the rocker. This is above the #2 cylinder. Iron lt1 heads from a 94 roadmaster.

Well. Guess thats money saved for a pressure test.
Been wanting aluminum heads anyway. Time for a money consuming forged 383 rebuild.

Ya. In stock form the irons flow a little better. I think its something to do with the larger valves. Dont quote me on that lol.

When you get the aluminum heads, have them ported by someone like Lloyd Elliott. They will seriously outflow the iron heads, you will save 45-50# off the front end, you will have a higher compression ratio, be able to run more ignition timing.

Being able to see the lifter is a dead giveaway something isn’t right.

Re: Hole in top of head

Depends on if money allows for me get porting done by Lloyd.
But plans for the LT1 would involve AFR 195s(larger if I do a stroker) a cc306 or lunati 60122 cam, Scorpion 1.6 rockers, beehive springs, McLeod clutch, forged internals, and supporting goodies.
