LT1 Tuning / Dyno Tuning Help!!!

Hello! I am look for suggestions on a good reputable tuner for the LT1 platform in the Kansas City area or elsewhere if they are good I am willing to go there. I have called multiple places with no luck or they do not feel comfortable. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated! My setup and modifications are below.

1996 Camaro SS, Built 383 (LT4 conversion), Built T56 (Texas Speed & Performance), 70 mm Turbo setup (Just added). The engine and transmission are from a 1994 car so it is OBD1 in an OBD2 car.

255 Walbro with Kenne Bell boost a pump
Siemens Deka 60 lbs injectors (long Style)

Which PCM are you using? That will determine what software the tuner needs. Also will determine whether the PCM and the 94 4L60E are compatible.

LT1 tuners are getting harder to find every day.

I am using everything from the 94. So the OBD1 pcm will be installed in the obd2 car. I did switch from automatic to manual so the 1994 pcm is tuned for the automatic. Is it hard to switch the tune from auto to manual? Is that something I could change easily with self tuning? Thank you again for all of the help!

Re: LT1 Tuning / Dyno Tuning Help!!!

If your PCM is from an auto car and your trans is manual, the PCM needs to be flashed with a manual program.

If you have the 94 PCM/engine harness for a manual car, wiring problem goes away. If you are using a 94 or 96 auto trans harness, there is a substantial amount of rewiring.

A 94 PCM/engine harness will have a few mismatches with a 96 body harness. Shoebox has a list of harness pinouts, where you can compare the connectors.

Re: LT1 Tuning / Dyno Tuning Help!!!

The harness is the original one from the 96 and it is for a manual. I have all the sensors plugged into the trans already and all of them matched up. The only plugs that did not plug and play were for the coil, the sensor to the front cover and a emissions plug that was on the passengers side which i shouldnt have to rewire anything besides the coil plug correct ? Would you foresee any other issues or changes that would need made ?

Correct.... the 94 OBD-1 setup does not have a crank position sensor on the timing cover, the EVAP vacuum switch on the passenger rocker cover, or the after-cat O2 sensors. 94 used a dual connector on the ICM, 96 was a single connector. Easy to rewire. 94 DLC wiring and connector is different. The Opti harness connector on 96 will not connect to a 94 Opti. If you have a newer replacement Opti with the short harness already attached, not an issue.
