Maserati Coupe' goes down to the LT1
I was on the 610 loop here in Houston late at night in my '94 383 M6 'vert goin' about 65mph. A new grey Maserati Coupe' enters the freeway and pulls up right beside me, matching my speed. I've got the SLP quad center exhaust, so I guess he thought I'd be worth a run.
I shift to 3rd just as he hits it. The cars were pretty evenly matched, but I slowly pulled on him right from the start. By the top of 3rd (6800 RPM for me), I had him by about 1 car. By the time he gave up, I had him by about 2 cars. To be honest, my tune is still not really nailed or it would have been worse.
Always nice to show Camaro tailights to $90,000 imports. Keeps the world in it's proper order.

its decent, more ls1's though, in spring at least, and stangs are all over the place, anywhere in houston there are going to be modded stangs, some are real nice. not too many lt1 enthusiastics but a good handful of owners. btw where in houston do you stay at myzb383?

any pics of this encounter? Oh and at the end of the day, dudes has a $100,000 car in his garage and you at best have a $5,000 car. Sorry to rain on your parade, but the truth hurts sometime.
The difference between me and Mr Maserati is that I'm tellin' about the race, and he is not. If I dropped $90,000 on a new car and watched a 13 year old Camaro pull away from me on the freeway, I don't think I'd be tellin' my buddies.
And you might want to do a little more research on the Coupe. I looked it up when I got home that night. Weighs about 150lbs more than my Z and sports a 390HP Ferrari engine with a 6 speed automatic with paddle shifters. Would kill a stock Z28, LS1 or LT1, especially at speed on the freeway.
Went down to about a $5000 stroker LT1 engine. Hey, the Maserati is a nice car, but if I'm payin' those bucks, I'd want a faster car. My man could have had a new Z06 for less bucks, and then this would be a very different story.
BTW, who pee'd in your cornflakes? Or are you always so cheery?
