Zaino is a Polish and polish does 3 and only 3 things - 1) bring out any luster from the clear coat, 2) protect the base coat from breaking down due to sun light, 3) provide long lasting beading for easy drying and return the luster.

Polish does not remove swirl marks, water spots or any (let me repeat) any thing. It is to be put on a car that has no defects, water spots must be absolutely dried and gone or the polish will actually seal the water spot in until you wash through the polish.

Wash your car with Dawn dish soap to clear off all that crap wax that is sold by everyone to unsuspecting gear heads. And then put down 3 coats minimum of Zaino with accelerator additive.

It will last for 12 months bead action.

It is the best stuff I have used in 40 years of muscle car care.

If your car is in bad shape do 1 of 2 things - paint it or trade it cause putting wax on is like putting vaseline on a hamstring pull.....

Peace out.
You are off base with a few things:

Although Zaino refers to Z5 and Z2 Pro as polishes, they are in fact pure sealants (not polishes nor waxes). True polishes contain abrasives and/or cleaners.

Z5 and Z2 Pro do not bring out the true luster of the paint...an abrasive is required to do this.

True polishes *do* remove swirls and other clearcoat defects.

Just because paint may not be in perfect shape doesn't mean it needs to be painted or traded. Paint can be restored through a variety of methods.

Also, there's nothing necessarily wrong with traditional carnuaba waxes, if they suit one's preferences/needs.

Re: zaino

Proper prep work involves claying to remove embedded surface contamination and polishing with an abrasive and/or cleaner to remove oxidation, swirls, etc.

Re: zaino

What kind of cleaner/abrasive would you recomend for a novice? Ive clayed my car before, but never polished it properly with a cleaner/abrasive. Also, I would need an orbital polisher, like the Porter Cable 7424/7336 that was mentioned previously correct?

I use all of the Zaino product line. Zaino Fusion is a good cleaner/swirl remover. If your paint is in really bad shape, you may need something more aggressive, like a rotary polisher with a pad/bonnet that is appropriate for your paint's condition. Don't use a rotary if you are not experienced with one. They will burn your paint if used improperly.

Zaino Fusion, like all Zaino products, a little goes a long way. I use it with the PC 2724 with a water dampened foam pad. I remove the residue with a high quality micro-fiber towel. Take your time, it is best to go slowly as to remove as little paint as possible to achieve the desired results. Multiple applications may be necessary. As a side note, the PC will not burn your paint like a rotary polisher will.

Re: zaino

Good prep?
I do a half a dozen 1/4 mile runs to blow the dust off the car...

Depends; (now 99 SS is going to know my "secrets") some kerosene to gently dissolve / rub off tar, gum, etc. Then wash with Dawn dishwashing liquid. It will strip off all wax / polishes / whatever. This point some like to use a clay bar, I like using Meguiar's "paint cleaner". By the time I am done this, if you drag your finger anywhere across the car's body, it will "squeak".
There should be no blemishes, no bug parts, no nothing on the paint.

That's a good prep.

Now you can begin putting on thin coats of your fav wax or polish system.
Key is multiple thin, than one yucky large blobbing coating.

If you are using the zaino stuff, I put on about three coats of Z2, then a wipe down with Z6, then three coats of Z5. Then I start using my Porter Cable dual orbiter buffer.

I finish up with some Z8 spray if I know I'll be parking near '99 SS... otherwise the car is good to go, back to the track.

I'd apply the layers of the Z-5 first until satisfied and then apply the Z-2 Pro.

Re: zaino

Hey Ron! Thanks for the comments on the SS.

Going to Zaino the SS for Cops & Rodders. A few coats of Z5 and a final of Z2, with some Z6 added in between. Z8 at the show.

Re: zaino

Obviously I can't read numbers....

So I use the black bottle of stuff and then end up with white labeled, pink color stuff.

Yeah... I meant to say Z5 ending up with Z2... oh well.
