I have chrome ZR1's and for some reason the iside of the wheels are in rough shape. I wash them atleast once a week and take them off for a good cleaning two or three times a year. I still have pitting, and some bad stains on the inside. This is after two coats of zaino too!

Am I alone or do you just not drive your car with chrome rims?

 

Some chrome plating is better than others, I have chrome wheels on my daily drivers and they have been holding up fine, and they get driven all winter long.

 

Chrome will corrode very easily if not taken care of. You may think you're washing them enough, but they need to stay clean 100% of the time. I know that sounds tedious, but it's the price you pay for such an awesome appearance mod. I learned my lesson the hard way last Winter, so as soon as the temperature even gets close to freezing, they are coming off. The salt from the roads will eat them alive. Good luck.

 

I can relate, my problem is with brake dust pitting. Any way to get rid of that?

 

One more thing, chrome plating on aluminum wheels usually starts breaking down after 3-4 years on daily driven cars, it takes longer for garage queens.
