Post What to do about "spider marks"?

About a week ago, some mother Fu(ker slowly backed in to me at a light. IT was dark and raining and I didn't see and scratches and didn't feel any either. The next day, the paint right agound the emblem on the front had spider marks from the flexing front end. Can I do abything for this besides take it to a paint shop? It is not too bad but I would like to make it as invisible as possible. Thanks.

Spider marks are a bitch, because they are caused by the flexing of the bumper which is also now probably deformed in some way (ie. bump or indentation).

Its pretty hard to buff these out as they are usually pretty thick (and will likely get a bit thicker) and touchup paint doesn't work too well, as the paint tends to "pop" out a while after you fill it in (not to mention the cracks are usually pretty long).

Best bet is that if you don't notice an improvement by buffing it out (3M Perfect It II rubbing compound followed by swirlreducer then whatever wax/polish you use) a few times, then take it too a well respected body shop.

They may airbrush and clear coat it, but more than likely if you want good results you will need the section repainted and cleared.

Good luck.

There is not much you can do as most of the time the base coat is what is cracked and it is below the clear coat, sand off and re-paint.
