What to clean the windows with?

My car has water spots(not just any water spots, CALIFORNIA water spots)baked into the windows...what's the best way to get them off? So far I've tried Dawn with a pretty rough wash cloth and then using eagle 20/20 with the same cloth and then with a diaper...they're still there. What do I need? Thanks...

I like Invisible Glass. It's a spray-on product, available from AutoZone, about $5. I use a microfiber towel which I only use for cleaning the glass. For the price, you'll be hard pressed to find something that does a better job.

There are better glass cleaners, but they're a good bit more expensive.

Invisible glass will help with water spots but will not remove the tough ones completely. If you have some white vinegar around the house you can try that. Try letting it soak in a bit and then cleaning it with a glass cleaner.

Or better yet, use a true glass polish - there any many on the market including one Zaino makes. It goes on much like a wax - apply (though buff a little), allow to dry, and remove.

I just bought a Zaino kit and completely missed that glass cleaner...I didn't even see it...I guess it works?

I'll try the vinegar first, if not I'll get the Zaino stuff. Thanks!

Before you wash your car, use 'Bon Ami' on your windows, (use only this product any other cleanser may scratch your glass). Wet, sprinkle the scouring powder on and scrub away... Use this only on the outside of your windows and do I need to say 'rinse well' ?... This works almost as well as brass wool for removing really stubborn spots.
However, if the glass is etched nothing short of replacement will fix the problem...

Re: What to clean the windows with?

I've got them on my car too. T-tops and all. They've been on there since I've had it (3 years) and I still can't get them to go away. I've tried all methods here (except the zaino) and the only thing that actually did something was the steel wool. On the t-top it got rid of the water marks but took so much effort you could lightly see the scratches from it. Took a couple of minutes of hard scrubbing just to get a couple of inches done.

Don't exactly know what they're from. My guess is it was a coast car (Texas gulf coast) and the mix of salt and dirt that were left on it in the sun baked them in?

The only place that doesn't have them is anywhere in the windshield wiper's reach.

Re: What to clean the windows with?

use newspaper instead of a washrag or anything abrasive. the newspaper is coarse enough to clean water spots off and leaves no streak marks
