What is best way to get out minor scratches?

I have tried few things and they dont seem to work at all..mothers scratch remover does nothing, think tried meguiars ,think tried some mild rubbing compound. does anything actually work?

I realize really bad scratches wont' come out but these little ones would think something should work.

Are you trying to remove them by hand or with a porter cable buffer? I've heard people have had unbelievable results using a porter cable buffer with Menzerna Intensive Polish... http://www.properautocare.com/meninpol.html

The Porter-Cable will definitely save elbow grease. Its orbital action will also keep you from burning your paint. Which ever polish you go with, it will take time to remove scratches that have any substantial depth to them. If you can feel the sctatch when you run a fingernail over it, you may consider wet sanding first, then polishing. Shallow scratches should polish out without sanding.

A word of caution on wet sanding... Don't attempt with grit that is lower than 1500. It will take time, don't sacrifice the quality of your work by trying to save time with a lower grit. A little carwash soap in the water makes the sandpaper cut better.

Heres a nifty lil tip. Use a lil saliva and run your finger and spit over the scratch. If it dissapears itll buff out. If not, break out the touch up. For minor scratches you might try an orbital (all theyre good for is hand waxing in my opinion) or try a slightly more harsh hand wax like 3M perfect it. Takes a bit of elbow grease but the result is nice. O'Reillys carries it last i knew.
