Paint protection on nose and hood?

I've asked this question in another forum, but I thought I would try here as well. I just bought a 1993 Z28 with 25K original miles and it is absolutely cherry. I want to protect it as much as possible, so I'm thinking about applying a StoneGard film on the front fairing, hood, etc. I've also considered a bra (for the car-lol). Someone also suggested a Spy Engineering 3M clear bra.
What do you think?

Hey folks. I see that some of you have read my post, but have not replied. I'm just curious-does your lack of posting mean that you simply don't use any method to protect the nose/hood/fenders from rock chips other than lubin er up with Zaino? I have an excellent opportunity here to maintain the original factory paint, but I'm not really finding anything to help.
Thanks and, btw, I just placed my order for the Zaino Starter Kit! Can't wait to spend 5 hours treating my new toy to its full-body Zaino massage!

I think that clear bras are a great idea!! They are probably the best investment you can buy for your vehicle. Check out some selections here

Does a product line like Zaino affect a clear bra? Do I avoid those areas that are covered?

All the Vette guys use Zaino on the product and love it. I would wax the surface of the product since it does have a clear coat finish on it.

Just watch out for the edges. Dont get wax into them, a lot harder to clean then.

I think the 3M Clear bra would be a good idea (or a similiar product to that). I was thinking about getting one, but wasn't sure how noticeable it would be on the car. I think if you could see it on there it would detract from the appearance of the car. But in this thread, the guy has one on his 02 WS6 and I can't see it at all-might send him a PM and ask what he thinks about it.

Yeah, I've seen it only once on a car-it was a brand new 426 Cobra replica. When you got within 5 feet or so, you could see it. What price beauty, eh?

Another question is that I wonder if I would need to have it professionally installed or if I could do it myself...

I've heard that it is pretty hard to do yourself. Everyone I've ever talked to about it says get it done professionally.

Also, it's pretty pricey. I THINK it costs somewhere in the neighborhood of $400+ to do it.

My question is, does it scratch and nic and get nasty looking too? If so, then it's almost not worth it IMO. I dunno though, I've thought about it too. My car is in the body shop right now getting the hood and front bumper repainted! Decisions, decisions...
