Question No Softener?!?

I've tried the whole Zaino deal, where you wash your towels with no fabric softener, and I'm not sure if doing this left swirl marks, or if the marks were there before and just didn't come out w/ the amount of polish that I put on. Can you really get your towels soft enough without softener, or should I just chalk this up to a tip that I won't ever use?

You are correct in using no fabric softner, but this is true for any car wax or polish, some of the fabric softners can leave streaks on you cars finish. Depending on how often you wash and polish your car you will need to stop using the towels on the paint when then start getting a little rough to the feel, then take those towels and use them for the windows or interior and then get some new towels for the paint, I get about 6 months from a towel before it's to rough for the paint.

Or, for the best, just buck down and grab microfiber.

Or could Zaino have their own "superfiber" towel in the works. You will just have to wait and see.

Oh, don't even start with that you punk! I just ordered $70 worth of Elite MFT towels, I already have to upgrade to the new Z2 and ZFX, and now you're telling me there's MORE new Zaino coming out? GRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

Ya know... you're the kinda guy we all love and hate at the same time, hahahahaha.

No hard feelings, but I might have to swat ya across the noggin with my waffle weave

Hey! What about those of us who don't want to wait!

Seriously, if they are better than the Elite MF towels, count me in! I've been extremely happy with the Elites, so the "Superfiber" must rock!!

And for the original question....I only wash my towels with a liquid detergent, nothing more.

Mike

I do them by hand with a mild, unscented hand soap and dry them in the dryer on "fluff only, low heat".

www.microfibertech.com or www.autofiber.com - The owner of these sites is the same, however he recently opened up AutoFiber specifically for auto detailing.

Or, www.dftowel.com for natural MF towels. AFAIK, these are the only "natural" MF towels available currently.

Both sources are very high quality, very reputable, have good quality control, and reasonable prices. There are several other sites selling inferior MF, yet are much more expensive!

My job has been testing MF towels over the last 3 years, I am sure I have well over 400 of them and that figure maybe on the low side, I have yet to find any (including all the ones listed above) that will not scratch, some batch are fine no problems, the next batch from the same manufacturer scratches, I have been pulling my hair out for years, so what did we do? We have been working with an AMERICAN company in AMERICA to make a "superfiber" towel, more to come in the future. You guys know we never stop looking for the best, and we never will.

So Carl, that mean you have some old MF's you'd donate to a poor college boy?

We are a little more "****" than most about how we test these towels, I am sure they will work fine for your needs, but we sell to people that their cars paint cost more than some on my cars, and I have nice cars

Haha. Hey, for a college kid with no money, I'm proud to say I'm quite **** about my truck being clean. Course... my glovebox is still a mess

Due to my current lack of MF towels though, I had to dry mine the old cotton way. I used less pressure than a quail feather, and it took 20 minutes and 3 towels to get it dry. I'm so paranoid about scratching my clearcoat now thanks to you guys
