Re: Bug Removal!!

I use Stoner's Bug & Tar remover. I wet the car down, spray the entire front area and let it soak while I wash the rest of the vehicle. By the time I do the front, they come right off.

Have they been on the car for awhile??!! Sometimes for the tougher one's, Ill use some polish and elbow grease to remove them.

Stoner Tarminator works well, you can also use WD-40, just wipe with water afterwards, or claying will remove bugs that have been on for a while.

Re: Bug Removal!!

Clay is to remove surface contamination, if you wash your car and you feel the paint, if it's not smooth, and feels a little like sandpaper, claying will correct that, also you may feel little bumps on the surface of your paint, but your cars paint looks clean, claying will remove that and make your paint feel smooth as silk. Claying will make the light reflect better off your finish, and make whatever wax you are using last longer, it does this by making the surface flat and clean, this allows your wax to get a better hold of the surface.

Re: Bug Removal!!

Sea Foam Bug be Gone works well. I use that when I had road tar on my front fenders.

Ya but wax makes it feel smooth too, how is it any different, and I still dont get exactly what it is. Is it like a wax?

Re: Bug Removal!!

Clay is not a wax or polish. Clay offers no protection. It's a cleaner designed to remove embedded contaminants.

Think of clay as an "eraser".

Re: Bug Removal!!

Napa has some stuff called Kleen Eazy....will get anything off the finish,
but you have to apply wax or polish afterwards....which you'll also want
do if you clay which also another good option.

I also recommend the claying method. I know that Meguair's has a claybarring kit that comes with 2 claybars, a bottle of QuikMist detailer for lubricant for the clay and a microfiber cloth to wipe it down. Furthermore, you get all that for about 15-20 dollars depending on where you go.

Also, when I home after taking the car out on the interstate or something where I collect a lot of bugs I will take a paper towel, saturate it with water so that it is soft and then wipe the bugs right off. This allows for me to keep the nose piece looking brand new.
