Red face Back bumper paint rough and gritty ???

Anybody having a problem with the back bumper's paint being rough and gritty? It is on my 2000, bought it brand new, and delivered from the factory. I have waxed it well, I have tryed a bug scrubber. No luck. Just curious if anyone else has this problem. Oh and the paint is red. My friend has a blue one same year, and she doesn't have the same problem. Again this is factory paint, no accidents/new paint jobs.

All the F bodies get this (and many other cars also) When you drive there is a suction behind the car which pulls the carbon from the exhaust and metallic particles from the brake pads up onto the rear part of the car. All of this can be removed easily with a clay bar. BTW, don't use a bug scrubber on your paint.

Yep, the rear bumper covers are known to be a dust and dirt magnet. Do what Kevin said: use a quality clay bar. Not Meguiar's.

The clay bar works really well to get rid of all that stuff. It also helps if you open the rear hatch and clean all the paint in there.

Hey thanks guys! What kind of clay bar is good? I don't care how much. I know I shouldn't have used a bug scrubber, but I couldn't think of anything else to try. By the way, just incase the clay bar does not come with instructions, how do you use it? Thanks again.

Mothers, Zaino, and blue Clay Magic are all good, using a clay bar is easy, just wet the paint area with a car wash and water solution to make it slick and rub the clay bar back and forth.

Thanks Kevin. Do you have any idea if it's too late to do anything about this. I've had my car over 2 years. I don't see any physical damage, just looks like little bumps. But no discoloration.

I did a car that was over 5 years old for a guy one time. Once we were done claying he realized it was a metallic paint. he hadn't been able to even see the tiny flakes the whole time he owned it. If it worked on that car it will help any car.
