I saw it advertised that it cleans chrome, metal, headlights, fiberglass, whatever, its the thing that hooks up to a cordless drill with the foam pad on the end.

I tried it today and it really didnt help much, I first wet sanded my lights with 1000grit (couldnt find higher in the stores) then I waxed them up with the flitz wax and went at them, they really didnt improve any, the chalkeyness is all over!

Should I continue with the flitz or try something different?

I don't think those things work. I saw the Flitz commercial and laughed, cuz I knew it was like everything else. My advice, don't use any. Or if there is one that actually works, inquire about it here and other auto forums. Maybe a trusted member here can vouch for a product.

 

I'd try a plastic polish, a mild abrasive, meant for doing what you are wanting to do. I've used the Zaino Z-14 to do it on people's cars and my truck before. I'm sure there is a "store-bought" product that may work.

 

Flitz is clearcoat safe, and it does say that it works on vinyl and plexiglass, as well as glass, so it should work. I use flitz from time to time on my clearcoated wheels.

 

Maybe you should try it before laughing at it. It's a very well-known product among detailing enthusiasts, and it works great.

I mainly use Flitz on my polished aluminum Weld wheels, and leave the headlights to Wolfgang.

 

I use this stuff all the time at my shop.
(one important thing. It does not harm the paint. Most of the other stuff will mess up your paint or you need to use gloves to handle the product)
