Re: Air pump fuse melted

Usually a bad AIR pump pulling too much current. AIR pumps are a common failure item.

Re: Car doesn't start, just clicks...???

Re: Engine running hot at idle solved.

Read the first paragraph here: 4th Gen LT1 F-body Tech Articles (http://shbox.com/1/4th_gen_tech2.html#cooling)

It's been explained. The factory programmed temps are for emissions.

Based on...

Re: Seized for a moment at startup. Plooms of smoke.. any ideas?

Re: Seized for a moment at startup. Plooms of smoke.. any ideas?

Probably a small head gasket leak causing coolant to leak into a cylinder. This can cause random starting issues depending on where the piston stops in the bore when you turn the engine off. If...

Re: Engine running hot at idle solved.

People may need reminding about the interaction of the a/c and the fans. In the cooling system operation section of my website, a paragraph states:

"The fans are programmed to come on when the a/c...

Re: Wiring harness 1994 Camaro z28 Lt1

The Corvette harness is not going to be interchangeable. The only direct swap harness will be from a 94 Camaro or Firebird.

Re: BCM Functions?

The "re-solder" comment was just a wild guess, since there is no other plausible explanation (did you see my question mark at the end?) . Sending more current through the circuit path might have...

Re: BCM Functions?

There isn't a rational explanation. There isn't a "restart" scenario I know of. Perhaps the higher current "re-soldered" on it's own a bad connection in the BCM? IDK. Temporary or not - bad...

Re: BCM Functions?

That's a good way to fry everything in that circuit. There is a reason fuses have a given amp rating - it's to protect the wiring.

Re: Vaccum problem!

Basically, any vacuum that would have gone to the AIR pump, you just cap off at the manifold.

Re: I dont have a camaro, but......

You may find some forums or internet info about LT1/Jag swaps. I've seen numerous signatures with that conversion over the years.

Re: A good aftermarket Opti?

Because it is a cap and rotor kit-not a complete optispark.

Re: How would i know if the previous owner swapped out the engine?

You can look a the VIN stamp on the engine for a match to the body.

Re: Please help very frustrated!!!

P1373 is not a valid code for 97 LT1 f-body. Must have been something else.

Re: Wiring harness fitments

No, it will be different because of the OBD change. Therefore the earlier harness will lack all of the connections and because of the year difference, there would some circuits that are wired...

Re: Alternator type

CS-144 is the only designation I am familiar with for the LT1's 124 amp (1993) and 140 amp (94 and up) alternator.

Re: Retained accessory power problems? shoebox?

Would need some vehicle info to be able to look up correct wiring specs. For a 95, the window circuit breaker powers the top switch and that breaker goes through the RAP module. But, if your...
