Re: Engine running hot at idle solved.

IIRC, the secondary fan turns off and on according to cooling system load. The primary fan is always on with the air conditioning. Reason being is that the condenser does not function (pull heat out...

Re: Bad head gasket, intake manifold gasket, or both?

Sealant on the head-bolts of an LT1 is mandatory, and the builder encouraged the use of stop-leak. I am starting to see where your problems began.

Your builder was a f-ing moron.

Re: 94 z28 stock lt1 to 383

The best method in building a car's driveline is back-to-front, so you are on the right track. The 7.5" is unfortunately a grenade when pumping anything more than 400 tq. Why they put that POS in the...

Re: Cheap good optispark?

Any new opti is a crapshoot on if it'll perform or not. You are far from the first person to get a dead one straight out of the box

Re: 94 z28 stock lt1 to 383

A $400 converter will do little other than add a lot of heat to your ATF, and perform poorly. I have run a Boss Hogg (another $400 converter) a Yank as well as an Edge converter. The latter two were...

Re: Bad head gasket, intake manifold gasket, or both?

Bajeezus. Yeah, as Injuneer said, you're lucky it was not hydrolocked. Yes, antifreeze can leak into the crankcase with the engine off if the gasket is totally blown out. Not much, but it can. If the...

Re: 94 z28 stock lt1 to 383

$10k to do all of this will be a stretch unless you are doing some of this yourself.

Converter - torque converter. AKA stall converter. You're probably going to be looking at a 3200 stall, and a...

Re: 94 z28 stock lt1 to 383

WHAT IS YOUR BUDGET?

I want to buy the monster in a box 4l60e ss kit rated at 600hp and rebuild this transmission,
Ok, good idea. The 4L60E is not exactly stout in stock form.

I want to get a...

Re: Bad head gasket, intake manifold gasket, or both?

Don't bother replacing the other HG if it doesn't need it. Either they are good or they aren't. They sell HG's per-piece, not per-pair, too. Whichever side it is, have the head checked at a machine...

Re: Bad head gasket, intake manifold gasket, or both?

Headgasket. Don't bother thinking about anything else because you have described a headgasket in near perfect detail. Your next step is to find which side. You can pull the plugs and look for the...

Re: Running Rich!!!

Check for air-leaks at the intake manifold. Very common issue and will make 1 bank (or both) run pig rich. Same with any exhaust leaks before, or near the 02 sensors.

Download eehack or scan9495...

Re: Lt1 Intake manifolds - red. $75

I just sent one of these to NY from GA and it was $37. My guess is around $45.

Lt1 Intake manifolds - red. $75

Painted up all pretty with VHT red. Both have been used, so I'd clean them off (and out) before installing, but if you want a red intake - I've got you covered. Ran both of them without any problems...

Re: Is it always the water pump shaft seal that leaks???

That seal has an inner and an outer seal. The inner one should point towards the block. The outer (white or yellow) points towards the radiator. Installed incorrectly, the black seal can actually be...

Re: Is it always the water pump shaft seal that leaks???

Also, the opti seal is a PTFE seal, so do not use oil on the opti hub when installing. It goes in dry.

Re: Trick flow heads and spark plugs

I run TrickFlow heads in my 383. I run higher compression than you and I'm two heat ranges cooler. Saw loads of knock at one step cooler.
