Spark Plug resistance question

I see many forums about WIRE resistance, but nothing about the spark plug internal resistors. I'm not well educated on the pros/cons of plug resistances. 1996 F-body LT1 original plug was 41-943...

Re: E3 plugs??

I jumped onto the Bosch +4's when they first came out. Delco had just released the V-shaped Rapid Fire plugs and these +4's looked amazing, lol. My only issue with the plugs was the threaded tip......

Re: lt4 hot cam questions

Hmmm, Summit has these for 120.00 / set. They don't come with retainers or locks though... although reviews say they work with stock hardware after removing the damper. Higher spring rate than the...

Re: lt4 hot cam questions

Yes, inexpensive... not "cheap", lol. I had seen other mentions of the Alex springs and actually had those in mind when I mentioned "inexpensive".

Their site still shows 2 options for LT1, both...

Re: lt4 hot cam questions

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but wanted to share my $.02 for anyone else finding their way here from a topic search.

This is the post I needed to see before believing several other online...

Re: I have spark and fuel, car still won't start? Ideas?

That pressure drop would suggest a leak... be it an injector (stuck open or held open by bad pcm), fuel return line, or a physical leak.

I would unplug one injector at a time, check key on...

Re: Strange coolant temps, possible overheat

So, when I first filled the system, the original heater hose was in place, but it had a leak. I tried to repair it, but finally gave up and installed the straight hose. Merely topped off the...

Re: Top of engine oiling

Also, I believe if the lifters were dry when installed, they would have to pump up before they will spit oil up the pushrods to the rockers.

I always soak my lifters standing upright in a pail of...

Re: Strange coolant temps, possible overheat

I was considering using plumbing paste, but the high-temp sealant is a great suggestion :)

Yes, I fully intend to replace the WP (again)... but summer is almost over, and with my limited free time...

Re: Strange coolant temps, possible overheat

I filled the system the same way I've always done after WP replacement (this is probably the 4th pump for this car)... but can't say I followed any LT1 specific process. I opened the heater pipe...

Re: Strange coolant temps, possible overheat

I thought the 2-wire sensor for PCM didn't use a ground connection through the housing?

Strange coolant temps, possible overheat

Replaced cam, lifters, timing chain. WP changed 3 years ago, but sat since (due to the engine issues). Changed PCM coolant sensor (dead).

Engine together, runs nice. Have a small coolant leak...

Re: LT4 hotcam, valve lash question.

I had actually read the Shoebox article before posting. Read it again to see if I missed anything, lol

I did pull the valve covers, released the rockers, and readjusted using Method 1 (which is...

Re: LT4 hotcam, valve lash question.

Sorry, I was away on work travel.

No roller rockers... using the factory rockers.

Downloaded the missing service manual page from the 1995 link. It says virtually the same as Haynes, except...

Re: LT1 top-end chirp/squeak...

UPDATE!! FIXED!!

So, a mere 4 years later I finally got the time and motivation to attack this issue. Haven't driven the car except to store it in 2013.

My prime suspect was the culprit. Bad...

LT4 hotcam, valve lash question.

Replaced camshaft with LT4 hotcam. Set valve lash according to Haynes manual (tighten rocker nut until pushrod is firm, then 3/4 additional rotation to "center the lifter plunger").

Upper valve...

Re: So I got my rear end fluid changed...

Unlike the days when the additive was most popular, most differential fluids used by shops today (including dealerships) have slip additive already in them. So they would only add more if there was...

Re: water pump drive gear

Found the part numbers from 2 years ago...

LT1 = 10219554 (mentioned previously in this thread)
LT4 = 12551727

I'm not sure why LT4 is different... beefier??

NAPA had a number for just the...

Re: water pump drive gear

The WP drive assy in my '96 LT1 "chatters" really bad. I'm sure the rear bearing is shot.

I priced a new one about 2 years ago... it was over $200. But the electric WP conversion is nearly as...

Re: LT1 top-end chirp/squeak...

Thanks for the replies.
If it were as easy as just looking under the valve cover, you bet that would be my first move. I have to remove intake to look at the lifters. But, that is what I have...

LT1 top-end chirp/squeak...

1996 Camaro Z28, stock LT1, 6-speed

Ok, I've had this noise from the engine for a few years. I don't drive the car regularly, so I've taken my time in chasing it down... not to mention it never...
