Re: LT-1 success story

Hi 1424,

I am running the BFG G-force T/A KDW tires that came on the car when I bought it used. They were originally a tread wear 200 type tire but they are old now.

My SS is number 209 for...

Re: LT-1 success story

Thanks Cathead! I really like the look too except for the funky finish/paint on the two fiberglass SLP parts, the front hood and the rear spoiler. Both have a crazed appearance and the paint is...

Re: LT-1 success story

Hi Pontiacs,

I am glad you like the photos. The car is still a beater but it ran pretty well. The brakes were good, zero troubles but the disks were new when I got the car and I had installed...

LT-1 success story

I just wanted to share a few photos of my first NASA HPDE track day with the 1996 SS that I found on Craigs List a few months ago...

Re: New 1LE Owner

Hi Pontiacs, That looks much better IMO. The black center really works with the black roof of the 1LE.

Re: Bad PCM or Bad Injectors throwing off noid light??? ...opinions wanted ..NIGHTMAR

Canbaufo, just a word of encouragement to ignore the fear of rings failing on your repair. Consider that in a two stroke engine the only lubrication the rings/pistons get is the fuel with a little...

Re: Best Opti????

Hi GaryDoug,

Have you checked out what Berrington1 is doing with the opti rebuilds on eBay? What do you think?

The photo of his test rig will look familiar to you!

Re: Best Opti????

LOL!

I think that Berrington1 pays a bounty on old original Delco units so it might be worth your trouble make the search.

Re: Erratic idle bad WOT power

Amen Brother. I love the term "parts replacement roulette", perfection!

I too found out the hard way that even these "old" 93-97 cars are too complicated to just replace parts on a hunch or...

Re: Best Opti????

Phoenix and all,

I like what Berrington1 is doing with his rebuilds as well (though I do not have one on my car). He claims to be a 20 year veteran test engineer and given his test bench photo and...

Re: Cracked Nose/Front Bumper Cover & Doors

It may have been junk but the IROCs are starting to go up in value. There aren't too many of them around any more after all the abuse guys like us put them through! Full disclosure: I never abused...

Re: Water pump failed. How long before Opti does too?

Hi card0, Have you made any progress on positive pressure feed to the opti? The failures I have had with my previous optis looked to have been caused by contamination brought through the bearing...

Re: Cracked Nose/Front Bumper Cover & Doors

BTC,

Thanks for the info on the paint code 80, quasar blue metallic. My daughters think I should pick up a blue Z28 to go along with my red and white ones in a patriotic theme. If I did code 80...

Re: Cracked Nose/Front Bumper Cover & Doors

Hi BTC,

Thanks for the reply, I like cars so it didn't seem long winded to me!

I hear you about caring less about dings and blemishes as you get older. If it was mine I would leave it alone and...

Re: Best Opti????

Hi Kyleisag93,

In my opinion the optispark is the crux of LT-1 reliability and should be given your best shot what ever you do. If you have a working opti now you may not want to change it at...

Re: Ignition boxes?

Injuneer is right, once the spark begins the voltage won't go any higher even with a coil capable of very high voltages. On a test bench in air the spark should jump across the .050" gap of a stock...

Re: LT1 oil pan drain bolt size?

Hi Isabel.rose,

I am pretty sure it is a 17 mm on the 1997. That is what I have on my 1996 but my earlier 1995 drain bolt is a much larger 13/16".

Re: '95 Z28 Convertible subwoofer project

KYWes, I don't have any headers. I am running stock manifolds and cat to a magnaflow muffler with hidden dump pipes.

I am sure a good spring set will do a nice job of lowering the car. I don't...
