If this is going to be more of a street car than a track car, I'll vote for a decent MATCHED heads/cam combo with the supporting bolt-ons. I'd also put some money aside for a 3000ish rpm stall and...

The 7.5 10-bolt is fragile enough with 3.42s...put thinner 4.10s in there and you are taking your chances. My 2000 Z28 had a 383 that made 460rwhp N/A and ~650rwhp on the TNT wet-kit. Just N/A, it...

LS1 F-bodys are currently the best bang-for-buck car period. The handling and braking will embarrass your G-body and have just as much power potential. I owned a 1986 GN, so I know both platforms....

Well, I can relate with you as I've owned a 1986 Grand National, 1989 and 1992 5.0 Mustangs, 2000 Z28 and now a 2004 Z16. I can say without any hesitation that the LS1 F-body is the best...

That is a BS statement from somebody that doesn't know what they are talking about. My H/C/100shot LS1 made 576rwhp/590rwtq for years before pushing a head-gasket. When torn down, it looked perfect....

I agree with AL, LS1s love the squeeze. The piston ring-lands are the weak link, so make sure you are careful about detonation. I use NGK TR6s gapped at .038... I's also recommend a window-switch...

SS hood is pretty terrible as the air has to do a 180. I had one and used a FTRA instead.
The SSRA is a nice piece, but pricey. Good luck!

Piston ring-lands are the weakest link IMO. A little detonation (especially with boost or squeeze) can crack them. However, the LS1 is a pretty tough hombre. My old H/C/N set-up made 576rwhp/590rwtq...

My wife is going to make sure the battery is charged and my father-in-law will start/drive it to make sure it is ready for inspection if someone wants to purchase the Z28 before I get home.

Good call on the used MACs. They get a bad rap from the "go LTs or go home" crowd, but are actually quite good for a street car. They were a breeze to install and tucked up nice. If I didn't go with...

BTW, to answer some questions I've gotten:
I've never sprayed the current engine, so I don't have nitrous dyno #s. My old H/C/N made 576rwhp/590rwtq on the 100shot, so I figure the new set-up should...

Well, I am not a BMW fanatic, but I believe that the M3's 5th gear is 1:1 with a .60ish OD in 6th and a rear gear of 3.60ish. Compare that with the Z28's 4th gear 1:1, double-OD and 3.42 rear gear....
