Re: Got spark and fuel but won't start

In the 20 years I have been helping thousands of people on this site, this is the first time I've heard of a 93 not responding to the paper clip. The factory service manual even outlines the...

Re: Got spark and fuel but won't start

As I mentioned in the first response, if you have confirmed strong spark at all plugs, it's not the Opti.

You can scan a 93 for codes without a “code reader”. You just need a paper clip. Read...

Re: Need help with my LT1

Clear the codes. Pull the “PCM BAT” fuse in the box under the hood for 30 seconds. Then crank the engine (fully charged battery) for an extended period. Then check for codes. DTC 16 will set...

re: Set WOT shifts on a 4L60E?

The gear change if large enough, can cause no shift at WOT. Scroll way down in this tuning guide, for “Shift Points”. The guy that wrote the tuning guide also does mail order tuning. Not sure how...

Re: Fuel starvation on right turns, 96 Z

Some people access the fuel pump by cutting a hatch in the package shelf, above the tank. There's a “how to” sticky post at the top of the “Fuel and Ignition” forum. Proceed at your own risk. ...

Re: stock lt1heads

With good porting and the right cam stock LT1 heads can support up to 500 HP at the flywheel.

Excelent source of porting and matched cam:

Re: Got spark and fuel but won't start

There is no “crank” sensor. The ECM uses only the two cam position pulse signals (high and low resolution) that it gets from an optical module in the Optispark distributor. Crank sensor was added...

Re: Got spark and fuel but won't start

What is the fuel pressure in PSI when the pump primes?

Is the “SECURITY” light on? If there is a problem with the resistor on the key, or other components in the PASS-Key (VATS) system, the fuel...

Re: NEWS: Sticker Shock: SVE Releases 1000-HP 2019 Yenko Camaro

Just in case anyone actually reads these articles, Specialty Vehicles Engineering (SVE) is owned by Ed and Dave Hamburger, the founders of SLP, still operating out of their original facilities in...

Re: Replace Y Pipe and Converter

We really do care :)

Thanks for the feedback. I wish everyone would post the solution so that others know the complete story.

Good luck!

Re: Fuel starvation on right turns, 96 Z

One problem with the 4th Gens is the shape of the fuel tank. When you have an indicated 1/4 tank on the gauge, you could have as little as 1 to 2 gallons left. Unfortunately that would not explain...

Re: Rough idle

94/OBD-1 does not have misfire detection, so no flashing SES light. 93 is the only year that is speed-density. 94 and up are MAF. Only has pre-cat O2 sensors, no after-cat.

I’m having the same problem, and I don't have a limit. GaryDoug also. I posted this for Internet Brands in the Admin forum, but I don't think they have even read it. I'll try again.

They are...

Re: Looking to buy a 94 Z28 with head gasket problem, what to look for?

There's a picture of the oil galley ball in the LT1/LT4 rebuild book I linked in an early post. Show it to the shop and ask if he removed and reinstalled it.

There's a picture of the notched keys...

Re: Looking to buy a 94 Z28 with head gasket problem, what to look for?

Is it possible the crank key is notched, but you installed it backwards (notch facing the engine)? If so, there may not be enough of the key actually engaging the crank gear.

If you have a keyed...

Re: Rough idle

I'm going to move this post to the correct forum, since you aren't likely to get tech help in the “......Podcast” forum. That's why it says “PLEASE do not post in the Podcast forum”.

Problem could...

Re: Looking to buy a 94 Z28 with head gasket problem, what to look for?

What you are calling a notch is the end of the crank timing gear key. Is the vertical face of the key out past the surface of the crank gear? Or is the horizontal surface of the key projecting above...

Re: Need help with my LT1

Appears it can't even try to start, because there is no data being received from Opti.

You have codes:

- DTC 16 - Loss of low resolution pulse signal from the optical cam position sensor in the...

Re: Coolant light on with full coolant system

Where are you checking the coolant level? You can’t rely on the dipstick in the reservoir. You have to check the level in the radiator when it’s not real hot (to avoid boil over or getting...

Re: Looking to buy a 94 Z28 with head gasket problem, what to look for?

How large is the hole in the timing cover for the cam/Opti drive? The 93/94 splined shaft drive cover has a small hole, dowel pin drive a large hole.

The hole in the nose of a factory cam is...

Re: stiff power steering

From the manual, seems like testing the system pressure is important. Who knows how good the rebuilt pump is?
