mild solid roller setup (for stock heads)
Real nice little solid roller setup. The cam was designed for use with stock unported LT1 heads (and stock bottom end). This setup went 12.0@116 in a stock motor'd 95 Formula (6spd) with stock heads. Gas mileage was still around 24mpg on the highway and drove like a HOT cam. It is very mild and only has a nice little lope to it :)
-Comp Cams solid roller cam 236/242 .564/.570 112 w/long dowel installed -Comp Cams 1.52 ProMagnum roller rockers for 7/16" studs w/all hardware -Comp Cams solid roller valvesprings -Crane 11522 solid roller lifters Things needed for completion: Retainers, locks, studs, and pushrods All parts have been checked, cleaned, and ok'd by my engine builder. Some people have asked, but I will sell the package without the lifters for $300. This is a very strong running setup!

Hey Tim, honestly, this thing is TAME. No bucking, surging, or anything. It drives like a well tuned HOT cam in a stock motor. I daily drove it. It will feel like a stock cam compared to your Cam motion grind in your bird LOL

How do you think it would do on somehting like the power tour. We put 4000 miles in 7 days this year.
And I don't know what your talking about with my cam..its a baby...lol. Actually it may be swaped out here soon for a real cam. |

One thing that I forgot to mention too is that I have been giving you the "driveablity" description based on the cam being in a stock motor with headers. In a 383 it would obviously be even more tame.....probably would idle near stock with just a hint of lope :)
It would be fine for something like the PowerTour. I daily drove it and checked the lash once while I had it together. I was just comparing your current cam (larger) to this cam (real tame) :) Jason |

Thats what bothers me. I'm worried that I will think its too tame for me. I'm the kind of guy who likes that cam sound. The SBC that came out of the car was a 248/248 solid flat tapet. Any dyno numbers on the stock bottom end/heads? Eventually my lt4 heads will go on this stroker when I build the turbo motor for the formula.

It made 385rwhp with electric waterpump, hooker longtubes, K&N FIPK, Borla, and otherwise stock motor. You would be able to tell that it has a cam, I am just trying to give you a comparison to what you already have :)
With your heads, I would not be suprised to see 430-440+rwhp since it will most likely have more compression than my motor (stock 10.4:1) too. Cubes and compression do alot! Jason |
