FS: 96 LT1 Vette Engine
FS: 96 LT1 Vette Engine
Just pulled it from my 96 Vette last week to install a 388 LT1 I just built. Here are the specifics:
Completely stock; Daily Driver, Never raced.
96,000 miles - Runs Great; No smoking, No Codes; No leaks, No problems, NONE
Engine is bagged and sitting on an engine stand. ready for pickup. Engine is fully assembled except for a few parts I took off to prevent being damaged during removal, like EGR and EGR solenoid, steam tubing, etc.
These are the parts I used off the stock LT1 to be used on my 388:
All the Sensors
Throttle Body
MAF and bellows
Oil filter mount (I needed the off-set type to clear the Vette's CATs)
Starter
Exhaust manifolds
Oil pan re-enforcing rails
Water Pump (but I have a "F" body pump that goes with the engine)
Wire loom hold-down studs
Thermostat and housing
Hose bibs that screw into the intake manifold (UpDate)
Engine still has installed on it:
Harmonic damper and hub
Opti
Flexplate (UpDate: FlexPlate has been removed but still comes with the engine)
Heads and valve train with lifter preload still set
Intake Manifold
Injectors
Spark plugs
I have the composite valve covers but I ground a nickel size hole in one of them, trying to get enough clearance for the cover to clear my RRs' poly locks on the new engine. Didn't work so I'm going with new, taller covers.
I also have new GM exhaust manifold gaskets, new water pump gaskets, new timing chain cover gasket, water pump connector, crank position sensor, "F" body oil pan (although the original Vette pan is still on the engine), stock 96 Vette torque converter, PRE-96 Timing Chain cover (No crank position sensor provision) and 96 Vette PCM.
All that goes with with the engine if you meet my asking price: $1,000
I'm not separating the parts; this is a package, pick-up deal.
No, I would rather not deal with shipping, besides, that would add another $300 to your cost. That's what it cost me to have my 388 short block shipped to me! It's just too much work, crateing it up, etc. too.
Email me if you're interested. jcameron266@sbcglobal.net
I'll take some photos tomorrow and post them on PhotoBucket.
BTW, I'm from Texas, but am currently staying in Park Forest, Illinois - only a few minutes south of Chicago.
HERE'S AN UPDATE: On 16 JUL 07, I took the engine down to TEXAS and stored it in my storage locker in DeSoto (Just outside of Dallas). Had to do that to clean up garage space for my nephew. Engine is still mounted on an engine stand and bagged.
When I returned to Park Forest, I realized I'd forgotten to leave the timing chain cover gasket and the two water pump gaskets. Everything else is in the locker with the engine though. So delete those gaskets from the deal; sorry 'bout that.
Also, I removed the flexplate from the engine, but it's in the locker.
Thanks for your attention,
UPDATE: ENGINE IS NOW BACK IN DESOTO (DALLAS) TEXAS. After not receiving any bites here in Illinois, I trucked it back to TX and put it in my storage locker.

Funny you should ask. I just returned from there last night- DeSoto, just south of Dallas. I was there from last Saturday until yesterday - WED - when I began the 14+ hour drive back to Illinois.
I took the engine and all the parts I listed in the post down to my storage locker in DeSoto. Wish I had known. We could have met up and made a deal.

I've had the engine up for sale on several different Forums for a short while now and have gotten the standard responses: "If I only had the Money", "If I had only known sooner before I bought . . .". etc.
I got tired of waiting and had to move the engine out of my nephew's garage to free up some space for him.
So I took it down to Texas and put it in my storage locker.
If you are really, and I mean REALLY, interested in the engine, I can arrange for my daughter to meet you at the locker and show you the engine. If you're NOT serious, PLEASE DON'T WASTE HER TIME AND MINE.
Since she's a "cutie pie", if you mess with her, I'll track you down, SO BE FORE-WARNED!! This is ONLY about the sale of an engine; NOTHING MORE! LOL

I held on to it here in Illinois for a few weeks while I was installing my new 388LT1 hoping someone would buy it. That would have been the best deal for me, since I wouldn't have had to spend 14-1/2 hours one way to drive down to DeSoto with it. Not to mention the $400 I had to spend on just the gas round trip.
After the 388 was installed and everything hooked up I had to clear up the garage space and even though the engine is double bagged, I didn't want it sitting outside in the weather.

I updated the initial post to show that I forgot to unload the water pump gaskets and the timing chain cover gasket when I took the engine to TX this past weekend. They made the round trip. Sorry for not unloading them while I was there.
Also, I removed the flex-plate so it wouldn't get dinged up during the move, but I DID leave it in the locker.

Well, I've relocated back to Texas. I'm now in Lancaster, just outside Dallas.
Engine's still for sale, and is in my storage locker in Desoto, bolted to an engine stand, all bagged up ready to go.
Come and Get It!
