Where to buy rear ends

Hi. looking for a new rear...money is tight right now...so bang for the buck is what im considering

considering a ford 9". where would i get one?

i assuming these would be cheaper than strange and moser..

any ideas? thanks..

Rebuilding my rear is considered. But ive heard/found out that they are such ****ty rear ends so i figured i go with something that can handle more power...

true?

do u really need it? why not spend the money on something else.

Afraid I cant help ya with the best place to buy but I will say that yes, you need to upgrade. 7.5" ring gear is way too small. I bet even the 6 banger wear out the 7.5" Dont know what GM was thinking there. Anyhow, do a search, there have been plenty of posts regarding the 12bolt or 9" debate.

look in the group purchase forum .. theres usually good deals goin on there for rear ends ... there are no local vendors who would sell u a complete bolt in rear end .. noway

ur best bet is to jump in on a group purchase deal through tbyrne.com or thunderracing.com

if ur not planning on hardcore drag racing get a 12 bolt .. if u wanna go deep in the 11s then dont think twice about a 9 inch

and get a moser if u go with a 12 bolt .. i had a strange 12 bolt and had to to a few upgrades to it and broke it once

how about i did a buncha donuts and now look..it doesnt work anymore =)

If the fact the rear doesnt work and my cars parked. the next question would be "why make the car quicker when the stock rear cant handle anything anyways"...

Not trying to sound like a prick. im just assuming you think my rear works.. :D

thanks.

ill be satisfied with high 11's to mid 12's. so Moser 12 bolt should do it? Is the Ford 9inch more expensive?

12 bolt has some design flaws of its own...

I bought a 9-inch and it looks like it will come in under $2000usd. Its also WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY stronger than a 12 bolt.

9 inch also has design flaws ... its not a definate superior choice .. the pinion is lower than a 12 bolt so ur driveshaft will sit at an angle, it will cost u 15 or so more hp to turn it as its a lot heavier, the weight itself will slow u down etc etc ..

there are advantages and disadvantages to both ... they will cost about the same either way .. just look up www.tbyrne.com or www.thunderracing.com for pricing ...

a strange 12 bolt is the easiest to bolt in and lightest of the bunch .. but the weakest of the bunch ... moser 12 bolt is stronger but its still a 12 bolt (8.875" gears) .. a 9" is a totally different design and the strongest design ... if high 11s is all ur after a 12 bolt will suffice, be lighter, and cost u less hp to turn it ...

but we all get greedy when we hit 11s, then u want 10s, then u want 9s ... its an addiction ... if i were to go it all over again id go with a 9" no questions asked ... but thats just me.

Like I said...get a 9-inch:) I have NEVER heard a complaint about a 9-inch but MANY about the 12-bolt's weaknesses

heres a good deal for ya

http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...hreadid=213526

talk him down in price a bit .. or tell him to cover shipping and it'll be a sweet deal with cheap US dollar these days ;)

i THINK its a moser .. but ask him anyway

i say that because strange comes with backing plates, moser u have to assemble it urself .. he says its already assembled so im guessing he assembled it himself .. therefore it being a moser

A big problem for me regarding a 9" is lack of 3-channel ABS support.... that and the weight/drivetrain loss.

Not too many people complain about Moser - they are a little noisy and you need adjustable control arms or a shortened driveshaft, but otherwise they are a stout piece.

You can get a 9" with 3 or 4 channel ABS. Check out www.spohn.net These are moser units.
