Want to buy: '98-02 stock 3.42 10-bolt rear end

I know that somewhere out there is a M6 owner that upgraded their rear end and has the old one sitting around collecting dust.

I am looking to upgrade the gearing in my '98 Formula (it has 2.73 gears right now), and am finding it would be cheaper to just buy someone's used 3.42 rear end.

My car does not have traction control, so I would only be interested in rear ends without traction control.

If you have one you wanna part with, PM me, or reply to this thread.

D'oh.

I just gave mine to Bunker.

BUT

I know zturbo (Steve Baumann) has two stock rear ends available and he is in Bellingham

Well, I'd probably end up using my brother's pickup to haul it, and he's in Stanwood, so Bellingham would not be all that much trouble.

I just need a rear end that doesn't have TCS, has good 3.42 gears in it, and would be good for a few hundred passes down the strip.

I really think this and a couple other minor mods are all I need to run 12's, and I'm jonesin to break that barrier.

Besides, I hate having more mods on my Subaru than on my Formula.

98+ rear ends are different, different caliper mounts/abs unit.

You had me confused there, cuz I specified 98-02.... then I remembered Steve has a LT1.

Oh well.. I'm still looking.

Found one on Ebay for $50, but I dunno if I trust the guy and it's in Indiana. Looks really rust, and he doesn't seem to know much about it, but from the pictures it appears to be a late 4th gen non-TCS rear, and he says it has 3.42 gears. Probably cost me more to ship it than to buy it.... and I hate doing business on Ebay.

LOL if you can wait until next spring you can buy mine cheap :) I'm keeping it in until the warranty is up then going with a 12 bolt or maybe an 8.8....

If I'm still looking then, I may take you up on that... hopefully I won't be waiting that long. Yours doesn't have TCS, right?

It does but I think that is pretty easy to change out

Actually, from what I've heard it's more of a pain than it's worth. I'd rather just find a rear from a car without TCS.
