Transporter

Has anyone seen or heard of a race car transporter made from an old, long wheelbase motorhome? I have this strange idea that I could cut most of the rear body off, then put some angled ramps and a winch to load the race car, leaving a small enclosed space at the front end with the beer fridge still working...
Anyone?;)

Take a look at Don Murrey's web-site..he has had two of them. The new one is made out of an school bus ;)

I would think it would be WAY easier to just buy a trailer and old pick-up. OR this could be a good oportunity to buy that dually you always wanted:cool: :D

That kind of truck is called a ramp truck. Can make one out of a 1 ton but they become very difficult to drive (10ft behind the rear axle) Another problem is the angle. Unless you use hydraulics its too steep to get a low car up.
Good Luck.

[EDIT] I should also mention they often use a HD winch and a rolling deck to lower the deck, drive the car on, then raise the car/deck. Doesnt have to be hydraulic.

I thought you were a non-drinker? Cheers. Larry, I have an extra vet fuel rail cover decal that goes over the lower lines and the 5.7 sig. I have red or silver, red for you to match your hawk and silver for me. Don't ask how much, free for you my friend. ;)

I am, but my crewmembers aren't!;)

Thanks for the decal(s)! I assume you have a pair? Come on over and we'll talk race school!

I thought this thread would be about the Transporter (movie). Some kickass action in that movie:D. The VW Transporter on the other hand sucked. And sorry, I have nothing to contribute to this thread.

I ordered you one with my order from the firebat. I would have got Pat one too but I'm not sure if he has the covers in his engine bay? I'm interested in race school and your input will be appreciated. See you soon Larry. :thumb:
