Should I install a windage tray?

most of you know already what my motor setup is like so you know I'm going to need a healthy supply of oil.

I haven't bought the oil pan yet so I'm looking at my options. Do you think its worth it to install a windage tray?

It is cheap insurance. I'd highly recommend it as the last thing you want to suck is air. Looks like a pretty nice engine that cost some money. A windage tray costs very little.

for the motor I was building for my 3rd gen, I bought a sweet moroso kickout pan and milodon windage tray...I heard it's worth quiet a bit of HP

Everything I have read indicates windage trays are a benefit. On second gens the trick set up is the early Z-28 pan with baffle and then adding the windage tray. Most guys don't think about improving this part of the system on their car. Also have read mixed opinions on the need for high volume oil pumps versus benefits. High pressure/volume pumps can push more oil than required to the top of the engine where it is not as required and use horsepower. Read "how to hot rod your small block chevy" and Grumpy Jenkins books. They have some great basics in there. I'd do it.

Windage trays are "free" horsepower. Meaning that there is no drawback to using them. I definatly suggest you use one. As for the Z28 pans I am not sure if they are still available or not. I was looking for one last year a bit. Last thing you want to do is run out of oil at 6000rpm. They also keep excess oil of the crank which helps make it lighter and stay balanced (which is where you gain the power).
