In Oregon

Hey I was just in Oregon for a week and a half. Wondering about something...

While I was there (Salem for most of the time and Portland a little bit), I didn't see a SINGLE Trans Am, and only saw two Camaros, both V6s, and two V6 firebirds. No Z28s, SS, Trans Ams, Firehawks, etc, in 9 days! What's the deal? Any F body drivers out there w/ fast cars? I felt like if my T/A was there I would be the Oregon top dog. I only saw one C5 Corvette, and no C4s or anything older. I know it's mountanous and stuff, but just thought it was weird that I saw almost no speed in the areas. What's the deal?

You'd likely see a lot more of them if it were summer time.........

Plenty of people park for the winter.

There are a lot of F-bodies and Corvettes in our area. You'll see most of them in the summer though. Many people drive winter beaters.

Thanks to that snow and ice we got a few weeks ago, there's still alot of gravel being flug around in some places, so I don't blame anyone that doesn't feel like driving their nicer cars around right now.. On Sat I drove to Newport... There were about 6 good "THWWACKS!" when rocks were hitting my windshield hard... Don't want to think about my paint.. I was driving around downtown Portland for a bit on Friday too..

My car's been in and out of the shop cause of problems of the rear... This is the last time I'm bringing it to get fixed, one way or the other.

In the summer, on my daily drive to work, I see at least 3 newer fbod's and a couple of C5's every day.. And thats just a 15 min backroad journey.. I know HTWLSS in a f-bod group, that one of these days I'll have to hang out with, if I still own a Camaro in the next few weeks though. So I think there's a decent number out there..

A guy a few houses down from me is started to mod his '03 Cobra.. His last toy was a low 12 second WRX... Someone around here owns a blue 11 second WRX. Then there are countless of really nice older rides around the place..

Yeppers you will see alot more of the F-body & vettes during the summer times in the PNW Then in the winter time.
More so when the tracks open up WoodBurn & PIR are always full on race dates.

Hey HTWLSS, We going to see you in a couple weeks at the swapmeet? or you guys not coming?

That's good, I was a bit concerned

I was there before the storm and during the bad storm...I arrived on Thurs, and the snow came Monday morning, and I hadn't seen any Fbods during those few days...but anyway, I'd imagine I wouldn't drive mine in the gravel either, OUCH

my 93 RX7 powered by a twin turbo LT1 will be running hopefully by April. Waiting on my heads which are being ported and machined for bigger valves. After that I get to throw everything back on and weld my wastegates on

Hey, I'm in Salem. I'm suprised you did not see any more f body's. On a daily basis I see at least 5 C5's down here. Whats up LT1RX7? Hows your ride coming? It will be up and running by April?

Hey what's up RicksWS6....yeah I was in Salem for a week and a half visiting my gf, she's from there, I went to see her for the holidays while she was home (But she goes to school here in College Station). That was my 1st time in Oregon, in the NW in fact. I liked it up there, although, half the time I was there it was icey. Didn't have my car up there of course, I didn't drive it from College station, Texas all the way up there. But, I did see two C5s in 9 days, but as I stated, not a single Trans Am or Camaro Z28, or SS. Just a couple v6 f-bodies, so at least I saw something. You ever go to the Ram there in Salem?

FastWhiteTA, I have been to Ram a few times. I was wondering if you drove your ride all the way here to Oregon from Texas. But I'm sure if you come back out on a sunny day you will see a lot more f body's. Just curious.....where in Salem did you stay? Are you going to come back here?

I stayed at my gf's house, the road they live on is off Kuebler. It was South Salem. It's possible I might be coming back sometime in May, but not sure. She has some trips this summer for school that aren't confirmed yet, so we're still waiting to see what goes on with those to make our plans definite.
