Hotrod status is 48 and older ChriSS which is . Even collector cars (25yrs and older) need to be aircared which is also Technically if the car came from factory with cats... it needs them. However, they do not do the cat check on 81 and older. Maximun idle rpm is 1200rpm. If you are going to try to cheat it through disconnect the vaccum advance hose and plug it. An EGR valve will not affect your performance but it will lower your emmisions (NOX mostly). EGR valves can even increase your gas milage (in theory any how). IF your car has a working EGR setup keep it.

Cory, I had heard that guys in Ontario can qualify for hot rod status with new cars. However, I may have heard incorrectly.

Thanks for the info.

The last time I took my beater through (86 Deisel VW Golf) the guy went around with a mirror and then told me I can't go through becuase I don't have a Cat.
I said "It's a diesel, dumbass!"
He looked sheepish and went about his lame work..........
