no front licence plate

so, whats the deal (in your experiences) with taking off the front licence plate...

my car looks soooo much better without the plate, but it's kinda against the law

so have you guys ever had any problems (ppl who run with no front plate), because as soon as i took it off, i drove down my street and there was a road block, all the cop did was ask the other officer if i had a back plate, i told him i was workin' on her, hence no plate, and then he just asked me if i'd had any booze, i said no, then he told me to have a nice night...
so no beef there, but what has happened, and what are the likely fines that i'll encur

thanks
ian

i do actually know its against the law, but they are sooooo pointless, god-damn bc's stupid laws, with no side tint allowed (although i really dont care about that one), and all these darn low speed limits (i'm english, so i'm used to fast GOOD driving, unlike here, especially here being in tsawwassen, the 'florida' of bc, where ppl come to die, i mean retire, sorry)

any yeah, i think the plates gonna have to go back on

i know its sort of unrelated ..

but everytime i take my car out on a day permit .. i never bother to put up my papers .. ever .. and i've yet to be hassled for having absolutely no numbers on the car (except for 630 O/L on the back window)

i've went to road blocks .. been followed by a cop car on the hwy .. went thru the scene of an accident with 50 cop cars there .. cruised robson up and down many times with cops passing me

even if i were to put it up my tint is so dark noone would see it ..

when i used to permit my car id never bother putting up the permits as well, dark tint. we got pulled over downtown once but they let us go saying it was okay to do so. apparantly they dont like it when you stick on the back plate area.

i went through a roadblock the other day and the guy was like "its a 150 or 115 dollar fine" he was french and i couldn't understand his stupid french accent. i was just like oh yea ill go put it on, and he says ok come back im here till 7 i wanna see you again with it on. i was like yea ok.
i don't think he was too smart because he never actually looked at my plate cause all he saw was the front, which didn't have one. so i never went back. i have never actually heard of someone getting the ticket. just warned all the time, never a written warning that goes in the computers either.

I have a front plate on my bird and it looks rediculous. My firehawk never came with the front license plate cover so I ordered one last week. It cost $75.00 but it only comes primered. Paint shops want more than that to paint it. I don't care about the stupid law, give me a ticket, big deal. The new cover will be on soon along with pics of my new mods too.

In the 6 years of owning my car, its never had the front plate on... i've been waived through 3-4 road blocks here in BC, and never given a second look...

*knock on wood*

However, the reason for it, is so that they can see in advance... If the car in front of them as no front plate, they can't run the plate, to see if its stolen or whatever, so by the time they get up to the car, the dude thats just stolen it, has his gun pulled out, and shoots the cop If the front plate was on there, they would be alerted in advance that the car was stolen and they should be ready for something... Same reasoning for no tint on the 2 windows for the driver and passenger, so the cops can see and get an idea of whats going on before its too late

I feel sorry for ya Ricky. That's highway robbery. Everyone else pretty much says no problem but after reading your post I'll have my $86.00 ready. I'll keep my front license plate in the car and if I get pulled over I'll make up some about going to a car show or take some pics. Sucking up to the boys in blue is a real art.
