Cheap Z06 - what do you think?
Hey guys, I found this Z06 for sale.
http://www.readytofix.com/Inventory/...Theft_Blue.htm It's a 2003, from the Seattle area. It's been stolen, and has a blown engine, that needs to be fixed. Car is selling for $17,250 USD. Might be worthwile for somebody mechanically inclined to fix the LS6 and have a cheap '03 Z06. |
Your still looking at $40,000 after its all said and done. Maybe even a little more. Taxes / Exchange rate / cost of bringing accross the border / rebuild etc. not to mention the other hidden problems that you dont know about. It a lot of work to save some money.
If I had the money... I would just save some more and buy one thats in running order locally. |
I wonder whats "blown"
a stock engine couldnt be that badly damaged unless the theives put a jug of nitrous on the back or something probably only needs headgaskets :D |

If I had the money I would buy it, for the amount of money you save it would be worth it to buy it and just drop in a MTI 421 :D and aprt out the stock engine

If anyone wants to go down there to check it out I'm game. I need to pick up some parts anyhow in the next week or two.
17K USD comes to about 24k CAD. Taxes will be 14.5% and fees at the border around 400 bringing it to 28K CAD. This could be a steal of a deal and warrants investigation IMO. If I had money kciking around I'd consider buying it as a race car :). |
Im game
see if we can work out a time frame that would work for both of us hell if i could sell my 95 quick enough id be game for buying the damn thing  anyone want a convertible camaro ? |
Well this DOES present an interesting opportunity.
I have been shopping. I may be interested in going as well. i have registered as a MEMBER to get more info - Cost $15 USD :( Well good luck with that. http://autosource-online.com/login.html? Go here and use my email address to login srickerb@shaw.ca Damned if I can find that vehicle |
I guess it would be worth it then.
Hey, Ry! Hows the 69 coming along anyway? |
why does everyone always think its so much to bring cars across the border........honestly I think corvettes are probably the easiest cars to bring back to canada
|
yeah, I had to do absolutely nothing to mine to get it into Canada other then paperwork, planning, and travel time.
You don't even have to aircare it before insuring it for the first time! |
I thought there was some sort of tax that you had to pay for importing a vehicle. (Besides the regular taxes)
|
yeah .. if its an import ... american made cars get no duties
|
You pay the importation fee which covers the cost of the paper trail and federal inspection. You also pay an excise tax if you have air conditioning in the car. Other then that, no other taxes or fees for North American cars.
|
just to let you guys know readytofix and autosource are both scams. You send in the $15 and they send you 50 links to junkyards accross the US. You might call about the ZO6 but they will tell you it sold
