My cousin flys F18's for Canada out of Cold Lake Alberta, and he told me that if the Americans would go into ALL OUT war with Iraq, it would last 2 or 3 days at the MOST. To give you an I idea of how powerful the US army is, one of their aircraft carriers has the same amount of F18's as Canada has in total. If Bush wanted to kill Sadam, he would have done it a long time ago...but he is like a little toy to him that he uses when he wants to take the heat off himself for other reasons

Andy

Iraq will have it's *** kicked if the US goes in there all guns firing.

America beaten? The American led coalition destroyed nearly the entire Iraqi armed force, including the "elite" Republican Guard in a matter of days. The Iraqi force happened to be one of the largest and most well equipped in the world (for instance their armored columns had plenty of modern Soviet tanks and mechanized units). While this was happening the coalition also managed to liberate an entire country.

It is easy to look back and suggest that the coalition should have removed Saddam from power when they had the chance. Hindsight is always 20-20. However if you look back 12 years ago you would see that the landscape was much different. There was no axis of evil, Osama bin Laden, or 9/11. Iraq did not pose the possible threat of weapons of mass destruction that it does now, and finally US no longer needs to worry about the instability of Eastern Europe.

Thumbs down

Let's just chill out on the propaganda-fuelled arguments guys .

FACT: Bin Laden was an operative for the US Government long before 9/11. Much of his reign of terror and wealth was made possible via the US supply of money, arms and military personnel.

FACT: A war on Iraq will have substantially positive effects on oil harnessing and pricing, giving the US an incentive to strike.

IF the US war effort really was about global peace and anti-terrorism, then why are the UN and other countries so dramatically opposed to the war?

Don't get me wrong, I think all terrorists deserve to die a miserable death, but the general population is so caught up in the here and now, that many of the facts are placed on the back-burner. Bush has successfully turned the incidents of 9/11 into a strategic attempt to jumpstart the economy and distract the world from tension on the homefront.

Moreover, a war with Iraq may be interpreted as a religious war, thereby increasing strain between religious, political and social factions in every country involved, including Canada. Being born in Canada, I STILL faced persecution after 9/11 because of my ethnicity. Quite pathetic...

i hate george bush he is just looking for war
"they have weapons i just cant tell you where they are, but i know there in there"
what a loser, they ar egoing to stetch there military limits to the point that they are going to start drafting again. i think he should focus on problems were they have proof like northkorea. Oh wait thats right north korea doesn't have the oil reserves like iraq, what would be the point in that .

Im just preparing to pay out the A$$ for gas this summer

well .. you wanna know how bush KNOWS that iraq has weapons ??BECAUSE THE US SOLD ALL THOSE WEAPONS TO SADDAM ... where do u think they got all their weapons of mass destruction when they were fighting Iran from 1980 to 1988 ? where do u think Iran got their weapons !? yeah .. the united states !!! a war is like a business for them .. they make money no matter who wins

so they know how much weapons they sold to Iraq, they know how many of them were used ..

heres the algorithm ... its basically simple math

Declare War(w. sold, w. used, w. found)
{
Let weapons_remaining = weapons_sold - weapons_used
If (weapons found < weapons remining)
Start war
else
do nothing.
}

You won't have to pay out the *** for gas if there is a war. When Desert Storm took place in the early 90's, gas prices where stable. Also, last year after 9/11 happened, everybody thought gas would rise, but it didn't. I remember paying 0.54$ per L (87octain) last April at a lower mainland gas station.

I only read some of this sh_T.. but i'm with Mike... it IS EASY to send in ONE guy to kill ONE man... its called spys ... but Bush likes to figh... AND BUSH Sr. HATED Iran AND Iraq and they had an ongoing thing... so BUSH JR. is finishing daddys job for him. And, even though I don't think about it, I am afraid... cause once they start attacking Iraq, Iran will get involved and its over for Iran and other countries too...

And obviously they have nukes and most of the US/Canada is doomed

ah well.. you're born and then you're dead

isn't that what life is all about?

Not many countries have the ability to launch nucular warheads into orbit which is the only way they can " Nuke " us with any kind of real success. They wouldnt dare , we would **** them all up so bad . USA has the ability to wipe whole countries off the face of the earth if need be from a distance . . . . . but they wont. The US has a bad rep which is a joke because they give out Bazillions in foreign aid and help with rebuilding entire countries . . . but who remembers that . Bush is doing his job , he's protecting our way of life .

Why would Iran get involved? I know the Iranian government is anti-US but there is no love lost between Iran and Iraq. In fact if you have been following the news, Iran has been talking to the US government about returning shot-down US pilots if fighting breaks out.

I am sure the CIA has tried to assassinate Saddam, but obviously they have not been successful. They would have to make it look like a coup d'etat. World opinion would likely explode if it became common knowledge that the American government sponsored the assassination of a foregin head of state.

twitchbitch is right about us getting nuked - they have no way of delivering nuclear warheads across the Atlantic. Israel (and possibly Turkey) have reason to worry though.

One thing to remember about powerful nations is that they do their best to protect themselves, and they do this by projecting power. Opinion will thus always be arrayed against them, and sometimes rightly so since the best interests of powerful nations are rarely beneficial for others. It happened to the Romans, Persians, Turks, the British Empire, the Germans, and will happen with the US until it too falls from power (if ever) or humanity finds a way to unite as one nation.
