Re: New 1LE Owner
Even with all the cancellations, we've managed to squeeze in 3 x events so far this year. We have another one coming up on Sunday the 5th and then a 2 x day event the following weekend. We headed out to the airport at Phillipsburg PA last weekend to run with the CPR SCCA. There were 70 + cars and we had a great time. The track was very fast and suited us both well. It's getting harder and harder to keep the rear from sliding and I think that's a combination of us both getting faster AND our tires being pretty much done. More obilgatory photos;

Re: New 1LE Owner
Thanks for the video; it looks like your wife is having a good time and running pretty fast! The car sounds great, nice exhaust growl.
Keep posting, it is the closest I am coming to motorsports lately. |

Re: New 1LE Owner
Finally getting new tires fitted this week. I don't trust my local tire shops to put the Camaro on the lift without crushing the fender mounts so I'm going to drop the 17's and the new tires off to them. To do that I swapped the stock 16's back on to the car temporarily. First time I've had the stock wheels on it and I can't get used to the look;

Re: New 1LE Owner
New tires fitted - ended up going with Nitto NT05's as pretty much every other 200TW tire in 275/40/17 was out of stock.
https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...E_IMG_0632.JPG The tires were a huge improvement over the worn Falkens - to be expected I guess. Season is winding down with only 4 x autocross events left for the year. Had really hoped to get more HPDE events in this year, but COVID forced the cancellation of many early events. I have managed to book a track day on the full Summit circuit at Summit Point in WV on Septemeber 26th. Fitted new rear pads and rotors and changed the brake fluid and rear end fluid in preparation for that. Also managed to finally tackle a job that has been on my list since i bought the car. The rear muffler mount brackets on both sides had sagged slightly - enough that I could push the entire muffler up 1/2 inch by hand and enough that the over the axle pipe was resting lightly on the panhard bar mount. I removed both exhaust mounts and then 'tweaked' the brackets to move the muffler up and gain clearance between the pipe and the panhard mount. |
Re: New 1LE Owner
HPDE yesterday at Summit Point on the main circuit - it's an awesome track. Nice to wind the Camaro out versus Autocross. Had a blast! Definitely one of the oldest cars out there, but it held it's own and never skipped a beat.
We did instruction via the lead/follow method - our instructor was driving a BMW 335d, then there was my car, then a new Tesla (great mix of fuels and old/new technologies). I knew the Tesla would be quick, but I was surprised at how fast the 335d was. https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...A_IMG_0679.JPG https://hosting.photobucket.com/imag...D_IMG_2569.jpg |
Re: New 1LE Owner
Wife and I are heading to NZ to retire. I listed the 1LE on Craiglist and it is now sold and will be heading to LA.
