*wave* from SoCal
I've visited these boards on and off for a long time. I finally decided to register, and just wanted to say hello
First time Camaro owner here!
I waffled for number of months about getting a new car. The car I had gotten as a college graduation gift, a Ford Focus, was great in that I didn't have to pay a cent for it, and it got me where I needed to go (usually), but it was positively falling apart, and the repairs were getting to be not only annoying, but costly. I came around to the idea of a new car, but I couldn't decide what would be best for me.
Practical or fun, practical or fun.
Then I discovered that Chevy was starting up production on the new generation Camaros, and I was sold.
Definitely fun.
On Labor Day, I went in to the Chevy dealership down the street from where I work to order a V6, sort of my mini-compromise between practical and fun. I was not expecting to receive a car prior to January because I knew how back-ordered they were.
Well, they had an SS on the floor in the color I wanted. It had just gone on sale about an hour before I got there. The dealership had held onto it because it was required for a special news spot the day before. I resisted at first, and actually had put in an order for the V6, but then the sales associate dragged me over to the SS and commanded me to at least sit in it and see what it felt like. So I did...
And I fell in love. I asked to test drive it to make absolutely sure. As if the rumble when I turned it on weren't enough, I took it out on the highway and experienced my first ever 6 speed transmission. Fell *more* in love.
Long story short, I drove off the lot with my new shiny baby, and I'm not sure I will ever consider practical again when it comes to cars.

Awesome first post, and even better color combination!
I do not see many CGM w/Inferno Orange interiors! You will love it more and more, and people will always comment on it. I was hesitant about ordering mine, but I am so glad I did now.

Thank you! I get lots of questions and stares. It seems like once or twice a week, when I park it, somebody will ask me how I like it. I took it to Tuscon from San Diego over Thanksgiving. The border patrol checkpoint near Yuma stopped me briefly, only to comment that it looks like the bat-mobile. It's definitely a car that makes a statement at the moment; though I'm sure that will die down once they become more common
